{"id":272530,"date":"2025-10-02T18:29:20","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/272530\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T18:29:20","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:29:20","slug":"nyc-weather-outlook-october-november-winter-2025-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/272530\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC weather outlook: October, November, winter 2025 predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20bf4af8-2.jpg\" alt=\"Early snowfall prediction for New York City\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-7a5d4fdb=\"\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK CITY<\/strong> &#8211; Welcome to October!<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">It&#8217;s that time of the year again for cooler weather, earlier sunset times and, of course \u2013 snow.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\"><strong>FOX 5 NY&#8217;s <\/strong>Nick Gregory shared his fall and winter weather outlook for the New York City Tri-State in 2025, including his <a href=\"#Are%20there%20any%20early%20predictions%20for%20winter%202025-26?\">early snow total predictions.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\"><strong>JUMP TO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Temperatures were cooler in the early half of September and warmer in the second half, leading to temperatures being a bit below average.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/temp.jpg\" alt=\"October temperature outlook(FOX Weather)\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p data-v-0dea8073=\"\">October temperature outlook <strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The average temperature should be 82, with an average low of 65.7. Currently, we\u2019re at a mean of 73.8, but that&#8217;s 2.3 degrees below average.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Are we experiencing an El Ni\u00f1o or La Ni\u00f1a weather pattern? <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">September saw 2.21&#8243; of rain, but the average is 4.56.&#8221; So, what happened?<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/trop.jpg\" alt=\"This map shows where tropical cyclone activity tends to occur in October. This phenomenon typically brings drier and warmer conditions to the southern U.S., while regions like the Great Lakes and parts of the Northeast experience cooler and wetter weather.<\/p>\n<p> What is <strong>El Ni\u00f1o?<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Meanwhile, when above-average sea surface temperatures occur in the eastern Pacific Ocean, it\u2019s known as an El Ni\u00f1o phase.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> What about neutral <strong>El Ni\u00f1o or La Ni\u00f1a?\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Gregory says this is what we\u2019ve been in;\u00a0it&#8217;s brought milder temperatures pretty much across the southern Florida area and cooler than normal in the Northeast. A neutral La Ni\u00f1a essentially traps moisture in the south.<\/p>\n<p> <a name=\"Can%20we%20expect%20wetter%20or%20drier%20conditions?\" id=\"Can we expect wetter or drier conditions?\">Can we expect wetter or drier conditions?<\/a> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Moving forward in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5ny.com\/news\/weather-nyc-fall-start-2025-autumn-equinox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fall<\/a>, Gregory says we&#8217;re going to be talking about more of a transition to La Ni\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/precip.jpg\" alt=\"October precipitation outlook (FOX Weather)\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p data-v-0dea8073=\"\">October precipitation outlook <strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">So, the northern jet stream becomes much more active, which means we&#8217;ll see the potential for warmer than normal weather to the south, even up into our part of the country, and wetter than average normal conditions off to our west. The season looks to be mild, and probably going to be a bit on the drier side too.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Our stretch of dry weather temperatures have been delaying the start of fall foliage and making the colors less vibrant than usual. In contrast, wet forecasts have been leading to on-time and more vivid colors.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/peak.jpg\" alt=\"Average Peak Fall Foliage(FOX Weather)\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p data-v-0dea8073=\"\">Average Peak Fall Foliage <strong>(FOX Weather)<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">However, we also have to consider the effect of warmer-than-average temperatures &#8211; which tend to cause leaves to change earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<p> What sort of averages do we see in October, November and December? <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">October has an average of about 64 degrees or so for the high, an average of about 51 for the low.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">It cools down to an average of about 54 in November for the high, an average of about 42.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">In December, we have an average high of 44 with an average low of 38, 33.8 degrees.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Gregory&#8217;s early call for a winter forecast \u2013 it looks like a weak La Ni\u00f1a, which means it&#8217;s going to be milder than average weather with a colder first part of the winter.
