{"id":272570,"date":"2025-10-02T18:51:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/272570\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T18:51:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T18:51:17","slug":"crb-arquitectos-constructs-timber-apartment-building-in-mexico-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/272570\/","title":{"rendered":"CRB Arquitectos constructs timber apartment building in Mexico City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local studio <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.dezeen.com\/tag\/crb-arquitectos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CRB Arquitectos<\/a> has completed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/mass-timber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">timber<\/a> apartment building with planted atriums and sculptural staircases in the heart of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/mexico-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mexico City<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 3,770-square metre (40,580-square foot) building \u2013 known as ONTO \u00c1lvaro Obreg\u00f3n \u2013 opened in 2025 in the Roma Norte neighbourhood, an area known for its vibrant social life.<\/p>\n<p>It consists of units both for sale and for rent as part of a hotel-style management system that allows for short and medium stays.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2253960 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/onto-alvaro-obregon-crb-arquitectos_dezeen_2364_col_0-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"CRB Arquitectos-designed timber building\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1577\"  \/>CRB Arquitectos designed the timber building in Mexico City<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crbarq.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CRB Arquitectos<\/a> combined a gridded facade and a series of voids with a connection to nature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The ONTO \u00c1lvaro Obreg\u00f3n project aims to optimise space through a timber structure, reducing environmental impact while ensuring the building&#8217;s durability,&#8221; the studio told Dezeen. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it contributes to the urban environment by respecting and enhancing the city\u2019s image, incorporating innovative construction solutions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2253961 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/onto-alvaro-obregon-crb-arquitectos_dezeen_2364_col_13-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"Staircases within the timber building\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\"  \/>The combination of exposed wood and concrete creates spacious interiors<\/p>\n<p>The structure is a hybrid of prefabricated wood and steel in a double-layered facade, supported by a beam structure. the studio said, pointing out the bar and open-air dining area designed to foster interaction between residents and outside guests.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2253971 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/onto-alvaro-obregon-crb-arquitectos_dezeen_2364_col_25-852x568.jpg\" alt=\"Public rooftop garden\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1576\"  \/>The top level features a public rooftop garden with views of Mexico City<\/p>\n<p>Landscape design by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/hugosanchez.paisaje\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hugo S\u00e1nchez<\/a> incorporated low-maintenance native plants as well as a rainwater harvesting system.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2015 by Sebasti\u00e1n Canales and Javier Rivero Borrell, CRB Arquitectos designed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2024\/12\/09\/crb-arquitectos-tonala-15-mexico-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rounded, wedge-shaped apartment building<\/a>, complete with orange-toned concrete and a rooftop garden, also in the Roma neighborhood.
