(WICS) \u2014 Jacksonville is set for a vibrant weekend filled with parades, music, and historical celebrations. The festivities kick off Friday afternoon, October 3, with a special pre-party in downtown Jacksonville, featuring the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to see these iconic horses up close as the community begins a memorable weekend. The celebrations continue with homecoming parades for Routt Catholic High School, Jacksonville High School, and Illinois College, bringing school spirit and tradition to the streets. <\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, October 4, the Jacksonville Bicentennial Celebration takes over downtown with a full day of activities. Highlights include live music on stage throughout the day, family-friendly entertainment, food vendors, and bicentennial-themed events honoring Jacksonville\u2019s 200-year history. The celebration will conclude with a dazzling drone light show in the evening, illuminating the sky in honor of Jacksonville\u2019s past, present, and future.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andy Ezard expressed his enthusiasm for the weekend, saying, &#8220;This weekend is a showcase of everything we love about Jacksonville \u2014 our schools, our history, and our sense of community. We\u2019re especially excited to welcome the Budweiser Clydesdales as part of the celebration. We invite everyone to come downtown and be part of this historic moment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Residents are reminded that streets around downtown Jacksonville will be closed at various times during the parades and bicentennial events.
