The man, Izzy Drost, said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1BA1agXfNt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">in a Facebook post<\/a>\u00a0that his friend had taken him out fishing that day, and they suddenly saw the bears.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What an amazing sight to see,&#8221; Drost wrote online.<\/p>\n<p>Experts say that black bears can swim at least a mile and a half in fresh water. The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife says that bears should be appreciated from a safe distance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you encounter a bear, here&#8217;s what experts recommend doing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remain calm<\/li>\n<li>Do not run and do not climb trees<\/li>\n<li>Back away<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the bear has a safe route<\/li>\n<li>Fight back if attacked<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experts also say not to feed bears under any circumstances. For more information on what to do if you come across a black bear, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/doc\/what-to-do-if-you-encounter-a-black-bear\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mama bear and cubs in Worcester<\/p>\n<p>A mama bear and her two cubs were seen wandering through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/boston\/news\/worcester-black-bear-mama-cub\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">a Worcester neighborhood in October of 2024.<\/a> Residents were thrilled to see the family in their backyards.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was definitely breathtaking to see a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,&#8221; said Brianna Emond-Parkin, who saw the bears. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It also gives me a deep respect for nature and for the health of the woods around here.
