Ray, was a civil rights leader close to Martin Luther King Jr., contends Adams was \u201cpublicly flayed\u201d for being unapologetically black.<\/p>\n \u201cTheir hidden relationship \u2014 marked by intimacy, sacrifice, and betrayal \u2014 mirrors the larger struggles of politics itself: the tension between personal humanity and public expectation,\u201d the book states. And, in my opinion, most did. But some didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The feds subpoenaed and questioned Ray amid their probe into Adams, an experience she cast as nerve-wracking.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ray resigned her position as sports czar last week, days before Adams revealed he was dropping out of the November mayoral race.<\/p>\n She believes Adams shouldn\u2019t have given up his<\/a> re-election bid.<\/p>\n Ray claims to have first met Adams back in 2014 at a Brooklyn Nets game before they became romantically involved the following year. James Keivom<\/p>\n \u201cI think he made a mistake by quitting,\u201d she said. \u201cI think the city made a mistake by turning their back on him.<\/p>\n \u201cThis situation is very frustrating and sad, but yeah, no, I just hope the city forgives him.
