City of New York<\/p>\n<p>Five years later, Adams reentered Ray\u2019s life by text: \u201cI just won the primary. I\u2019m going to be Mayor of New York City, and I don\u2019t want to do this without you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The whirlwind, previously secret romance that Ray \u2013 who later landed a $160,000 job in his administration \u2013 claims she had with Adams is the subject of her new, self-published memoir \u201cPolitical Humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ray, 42, not only details their decade-old relationship \u2013 which unfolded long before he became mayor and appointed her as the<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/10\/us-news\/top-adams-athletics-aide-voices-support-for-trump-trans-athlete-ban-despite-city-policy-saying-opposite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00a0city\u2019s first director of the Mayor\u2019s Office of Sports, Wellness and Recreation<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 but also a slew of other revelations about Adams\u2019 seldom-seen private life.<\/p>\n<p>The book reveals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adams and Ray shared a close friendship after meeting at a Brooklyn Nets game in 2014. She spilled that it became intimate a year later following an event in the Bronx, after which he took her to his office. \u201cHe closed the distance like a man stepping into something he couldn\u2019t walk back from,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnd then he said \u201cF\u2013k it.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The crystal-loving, meditation-happy Adams roped Ray into his woo-woo beliefs, including by giving her his password for Gaia, a spiritual streaming platform.<\/li>\n<li>The pol \u2013 who would later face an historic indictment over his shady ties to Turkey \u2013 shared a moment with Ray at a Brooklyn Turkish restaurant. \u201cI remember one moment in particular at a Turkish restaurant in Sheepshead Bay,\u201d she wrote, \u201cwhen he told me I was listed as his emergency contact.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Adams, as the feds expanded their probe, had pulled Ray aside to give her a heads up that she was on their \u201cradar\u201d: \u201cYou\u2019re on a short list of people that have frequent contact with me,\u201d he said, according to the book.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ray started teasing the forthcoming memoir on social media with a dramatic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DPQ6COdEXmO\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">AI-generated video<\/a>\u00a0this week, after Adams\u2019 announcement that he was dropping his long-shot independent re-election bid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe used one word. Resolve. That\u2019s what he said. You know, he felt resolved,\u201d she told The Post on Thursday about her talk with <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/28\/us-news\/eric-adams-drops-out-of-nyc-mayoral-race-amid-increasing-pressure-i-know-i-cannot-continue-my-campaign\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adams after he suspended his campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the shadows of City Hall to the silence of closed-door meetings, Jasmine Ray reveals her untold role in the life of New York City\u2019s mayor, Eric Adams,\u201d a description of the book states. But while a production company has already reached out to her about a potential movie, she said, the mayor had mixed feelings about her memoir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like up and down, like a roller coaster, you know what?\u201d she said. \u201cI think he likes the book, but he\u2019s also like, you know, this is causing a lot of chaos. Ray, was a civil rights leader close to Martin Luther King Jr., contends Adams was \u201cpublicly flayed\u201d for being unapologetically black.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir hidden relationship \u2014 marked by intimacy, sacrifice, and betrayal \u2014 mirrors the larger struggles of politics itself: the tension between personal humanity and public expectation,\u201d the book states. Andrew Schwartz \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>But she also described Adams, who saw many of his long-time allies facing criminal scrutiny during his tenure, as loyal to a fault.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like some people that were brought to City Hall should have probably stayed at Borough Hall, you know?\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody can rise to the occasion. And, in my opinion, most did. But some didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The feds subpoenaed and questioned Ray amid their probe into Adams, an experience she cast as nerve-wracking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ray resigned her position as sports czar last week, days before Adams revealed he was dropping out of the November mayoral race.<\/p>\n<p>She believes <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/28\/opinion\/adams-exits-race-head-held-high-and-primed-to-call-out-insidious-extremist-mamdani\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adams shouldn\u2019t have given up his<\/a> re-election bid.<\/p>\n<p>Ray claims to have first met Adams back in 2014 at a Brooklyn Nets game before they became romantically involved the following year. James Keivom<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he made a mistake by quitting,\u201d she said. \u201cI think the city made a mistake by turning their back on him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis situation is very frustrating and sad, but yeah, no, I just hope the city forgives him.
