{"id":273665,"date":"2025-10-03T04:41:33","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T04:41:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/273665\/"},"modified":"2025-10-03T04:41:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T04:41:33","slug":"trump-considering-2000-tariff-dividend-for-americans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/273665\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump considering $2,000 tariff \u2018dividend\u2019 for Americans\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump said Thursday that he\u2019s still weighing the idea of giving Americans up to $2,000 in rebates derived from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/09\/business\/us-could-be-forced-to-refund-1-trillion-if-supreme-court-overturns-trumps-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revenues his tariff agenda <\/a>has generated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s proposal to share some of the hundreds of billions of dollars the federal government has collected since he slapped foreign nations with steep levies in April, comes as the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/09\/us-news\/supreme-court-to-consider-if-trump-has-power-to-impose-sweeping-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court is slated to hear arguments<\/a> in a case next month that will decide whether the president has the power to impose sweeping global tariffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re just starting to kick in,\u201d Trump said of the tariffs in an interview with One America News Network, \u201cbut ultimately, your tariffs are going to be over a trillion dollars a year.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.81238938;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37280516\" width=\"1024\" height=\"565\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/000-tariff-dividend-americans-112680236.jpg\" alt=\"Donald Trump speaking during an interview on One America News.\" class=\"wp-image-37280516\"  \/>Trump said paying down the national debt was the \u201cnumber one\u201d priority.  One America News<\/p>\n<p>What does he plan to do with the money?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNumber one, we\u2019re paying down debt,\u201d Trump said, \u201cbecause people have allowed the debt to go crazy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The president then argued that the $37 trillion national debt is actually \u201cvery little, relatively speaking\u201d because the government is now taking in unprecedented sums of money from tariffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith that being said, we\u2019ll pay back debt, but we also might make a distribution to the people,\u201d Trump continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trump described his plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/25\/us-news\/trump-suggests-giving-out-rebates-from-billions-in-tariff-revenue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which he\u2019s floated before<\/a>, as \u201ca dividend to the people of America.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thinking maybe $1,000 to $2,000 \u2013 it would be great,\u201d the president said of the size of the checks Americans might get.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Any disbursement from the federal government would require congressional approval.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.33333333;display:block\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37280515\" width=\"787\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/112680900.jpg\" alt=\"United States Treasury economic impact check with President Donald J. Trump's name printed on it and a white envelope.\" class=\"wp-image-37280515\"  \/>During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government issued three rounds of stimulus checks to assist Americans affected by widespread business shutdowns and furloughs.
