Brown Park near the intersection of Golfair Boulevard and Moncrief Road on Saturday, July 12. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The event will take place from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the park located at 4575 Moncrief Road. Free parking is available at A. Philip Randolph School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The event will feature live entertainment, local food and surprise celebrity guests. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Organizers said the free event is a celebration rooted in giving back to the community. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Comedian and recording artist Lil Duval said he teamed up with Councilwoman Ju\u2019Coby Pittman, city officials, the Boys &amp; Girls Club and several local organizations to ensure the event provides fun for the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re bringing the community together, with love, laughter, and music, that\u2019s what the movement of Lil Duval is all about,\u201d he said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The permit for the original planned site changed after the city cited several concerns in the denial, including overcrowding during last year\u2019s event \u2014 which drew more than 2,000 people \u2014 illegal parking, and a lack of adequate security. Over the years, it has grown into a major celebration, attracting people from across Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI can be standing outside my grandma\u2019s house, man, they\u2019ll pass by. I can\u2019t wait until Duval Day. You know, everybody just vibing, just bringing everybody together. You get networking out here. You meet people, new people, people who are fans of you, who support you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Ross said people in leadership roles who may not understand what Duval Day means to the community should come out and see what it\u2019s about.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIf you\u2019re in a leadership role, you want to be out here to touch the people, and this is the opportunity,\u201d Ross said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Just one week after the permit denial, organizers were granted approval to hold the event at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.gov\/departments\/parks-and-recreation\/recreation-and-community-programming\/parks\/clanzel-t-brown-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.gov\/departments\/parks-and-recreation\/recreation-and-community-programming\/parks\/clanzel-t-brown-park\">Clanzel T.
