A 67-year-old worker at Holy Cross Church in Midtown was robbed by a violent duo whom he\u2019d confronted for blocking the doors, cops and sources said. Helayne Seidman<\/p>\n
The sexton snapped a cellphone pic of the couple when they refused to budge and went inside to call 911, cops said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got you on camera,\u201d the worker told the pair, according to church volunteer Bob Most, 64.<\/p>\n
That sent the sacrilegious pair into a rage, and the man and woman followed him inside the spot on West 42nd Street near Eighth Avenue, cops and sources said.<\/p>\n
The man then snatched the worker\u2019s phone from his hands and clocked him in the forehead, leaving him with a cut and swelling before they fled south on Ninth Avenue, police said.<\/p>\n
Most, who was praying inside the church at the time of the violence, said he heard a commotion that grew louder and louder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspects took off with the phone that the victim used to snap a photo of them, cops said. Christopher Sadowski<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I went to the front of the church,\u201d Most said. \u201cI saw [the worker] in the corner bleeding.\u00a0He was on the floor. I saw this guy exiting the doorway halfway on his way out the door.<\/p>\n
\u201cI guess he fell and the blood was coming down his head. He was rubbing his forehead. He had a giant bump on his forehead,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The worker told Most that the violent crook had taken his phone \u2013 and Most ran out after the attackers, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe kept walking towards Burger King and I said, \u2018I\u2019m filming you,\u2019\u201d Most said. \u201cHe turned around and started coming at me. A good Samaritan came to my rescue saying, \u2018Leave him alone. He\u2019s an old man.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The belligerent brute then got into a tussle with the Samaritan, as Most stayed on his tail.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The sexton was taken to Mount Sinai West hospital, where he\u00a0needed six stitches to close the gash on his forehead, plus a tetanus shot and a CT scan, according to Most.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s crazy that his job is becoming more and more like a security guard \u2014 that\u2019s part of one of his things now,\u201d Most said. \u201cI come here a lot of times and there are people urinating, defecating on the church [steps]. They just think it\u2019s a place to hang out and do whatever they want.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both suspects are believed to be in their 20s with dark complexions \u2014 with the man described as heavyset, last seen wearing a short-sleeved beige flannel shirt over a black T-shirt with blue jeans and gray sneakers, sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The woman was spotted wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white sneakers, while carrying a black crossbody bag and a white plastic shopping bag, according to the sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n
