The Polish-flagged Marinette, which reportedly has a crew of six, was the final boat of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/10\/1\/israel-intercepts-gaza-sumud-flotilla-vessels-what-we-know-so-far\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Sumud Flotilla<\/a> \u2013 once a 44-strong fleet \u2013 to be seized by Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>The International Committee to Break the Siege of Gaza also announced in a statement that several detainees arrested by Israeli forces had \u201centered an open-ended hunger strike from the moment of their detention.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><br aria-hidden=\"true\"\/>Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry says it has already deported four Italian citizens who joined the flotilla and is preparing to deport the rest of the activists. \u201cIsrael is keen to end this procedure as quickly as possible,\u201d the ministry said in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p>It claimed that all 461 of the detained activists are \u201csafe and in good health\u201d. Earlier, the Global Sumud Flotilla called on Israel to release all its activists.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking via video call with flotilla organisers late on Thursday, the Australian captain, who identified himself only as Cameron, explained that the boat initially had engine issues and was therefore lagging behind the main group. The vessel is now \u201csteaming\u201d towards Gaza, Cameron added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a bunch of very tough Turks onboard \u2026 we\u2019ve got a lady from Oman and myself, and we\u2019re just going to continue in the direction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>A live video feed of the yacht, active as of 04:00 GMT, shows the crew steering the ship as the sun rises behind them in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p>A live geo tracker shows the ship located some 43 nautical miles (about 80km) from Gaza\u2019s territorial waters.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s foreign ministry had previously warned the Marinette that \u201cits attempt to enter an active combat zone and breach the blockade will also be prevented\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Marinette, the last remaining boat of the Global Sumud Flotilla, was intercepted at 10:29am local time, approximately 42.5 nautical miles from Gaza.<br \/>Over 38 hours, Israeli occupation naval forces illegally intercepted all 42 of our vessels\u2014each carrying \u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SYT9QyY03H\">https:\/\/t.co\/SYT9QyY03H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Global Sumud Flotilla (@gbsumudflotilla) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gbsumudflotilla\/status\/1974024941583454461?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">October 3, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since Wednesday, Israel\u2019s naval forces have stopped dozens of boats carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza and detained about 500 activists from more than 40 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Israel previously accused the volunteers of trying to \u201cbreach a lawful naval blockade\u201d \u2013 a claim that goes against international law \u2013 and said it would do whatever it takes to stop them.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s navy has intercepted each boat and detained its crew before transferring them to Israel, from where they will be deported. Several high-profile figures \u2013 including activist Greta Thunberg, former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau, and Member of European Parliament Rima Hassan \u2013 are among those being held.<\/p>\n<p>As the largest naval aid mission yet to attempt to deliver supplies to the Palestinian enclave, the flotilla has garnered global attention, and the seizure of the boats has been met with global condemnation and sparked protests worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Cotton, the general secretary of the International Transport Workers\u2019 Federation (ITF), representing more than 16.5 million transport workers globally, told Al Jazeera that \u201cattacking or seizing nonviolent, humanitarian vessels in international waters\u201d is illegal under international law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStates cannot pick and choose when to respect international law.
