It climaxed with a tongue-in-cheek literalization of its title, with the film’s antagonist, Joy Wang, played by Stephanie Hsu, presenting a cosmic everything bagel as the physical manifestation of her reality-bending desires.

This past year in Dallas, we can’t help but find ourselves going back to that scene, as so many new bagel spots keep popping up to the point that they are literally everywhere in Dallas. All at once. On top of that, Dan’s Bagels in Trophy Club landed at the No. 7 best bagel shop in the U.S.and Canada, according to a newly published Yelp list.

One Hundred and One Bagel–mations

Last August, Chicago transplant Salima Ali opened Bagel Bar and Coffee in a secluded roadside shopping center in The Colony. The shop, which is open daily until 2:30 p.m., serves up all the classics, plus a savory hash brown patty and a latte that’s way better than you’d expect from the in-house espresso bar.

Only a few months later, in December, the theme shop Saved By The Bagel opened in Plano. It offers a great deal of bagel options in a shrine to the sitcom “Saved By The Bell” and all things ‘90s. The breakfast here is good, but we’d recommend trying the traditional Reuben sandwich. It’s always delicious on marble rye, but on a toasted bagel? Game changer.

Into the new year, K&L Bagels brought a no-frills menu of bagel standards to a small shop on Preston and Royal in February. Just months later, the shop has already expanded, opening the doors to a second location on Lovers Lane earlier this month.

A Few Good Bagels

Are you keeping up? Do you even like bagels? We hope so, because the avalanche has only just begun. Popular roaming pop-up shop, Lenore’s Bagels, announced plans to transform into a permanent brick-and-mortar at the beginning of the year. Owner Jessica Brammer teased a 3,300-square-foot location on Midway Road in Farmers Branch, set to have a grab-and-go area, full deli and dining room, a private room for events and even to offer beer and wine.

The last update to Lenore’s physical location was posted to Instagram on Aug. 12, with plans to open by the end of 2025.

If that shop doesn’t come to fruition by then, rest assured that your bagel plans will not be canceled. Bagel Bros in White Rock plans to hold its official soft opening next Monday, Oct. 6, on Garland Road, replacing Urban Vines. Details on the menu and interior have been sparse so far, but we trust the shop’s owners, Johnny and Ruben Gomez, who previously operated Benny’s Bagels for seven years.

Does Dallas have bagel-mania? With over a dozen popular spots all over the city and two more on the way, it sure seems like it.

The Western at K&L Bagels.
