JACKSONVILLE, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 As fans pour into EverBank Stadium for Monday night\u2019s primetime matchup between the Jaguars and the Kansas City Chiefs, they will be greeted by a new sight: The first completed piece of Jacksonville\u2019s massive \u201cStadium of the Future\u201d renovation project.<\/p>\n

One of four planned grand staircases is now open to the public. It will give fans direct access to a wider, more spacious main concourse at the top once the multi-year transformation is finished. <\/p>\n

The newly unveiled \u201cSuper Gate\u201d at Gate 1 is now fully operational, replacing the ramps that will eventually be demolished as construction continues. <\/p>\n

To mark the occasion and build excitement for the nationally televised game, Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan issued an official proclamation declaring Monday, Oct. 6, as \u201cTurn Up in Teal Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

She encouraged fans across the city to wear teal and show support for the Jaguars as they take the national spotlight.<\/p>\n

During Monday\u2019s unveiling, Deegan praised the renovation project\u2019s potential to boost the local economy and spotlight homegrown talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the people working on this stadium are from right here in Jacksonville,\u201d Deegan said. \u201cThis is a win for our city, our workers, and our future.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to city projections, the stadium renovation is expected to create 18,000 jobs and bring in roughly $2.4 billion in economic impact over time. <\/p>\n

Roughly 5% of the work on the stadium has been completed so far, team president Mark Lamping said. And the project remains on track for its full completion in August 2028.<\/p>\n

During the project, the Jaguars will continue to play at EverBank Stadium at full capacity throughout this season. <\/p>\n

But the construction will lead to temporary changes. In 2026, capacity will be reduced to 43,500 seats. And in 2027, the team may temporarily relocate games to Gainesville or Orlando to allow for more intensive renovations.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the organization\u2019s business operations are expected to move into a new office building by February 2026, marking another step in the overall redevelopment plan.<\/p>\n

Deegan also highlighted several other downtown redevelopment projects in motion \u2014 many tied to or influenced by the stadium\u2019s renovation timeline.<\/p>\n

As the stadium transformation begins to take shape, fans and city leaders alike say it\u2019s about more than football \u2014 it\u2019s about momentum.<\/p>\n
