{"id":275636,"date":"2025-10-03T22:24:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T22:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/275636\/"},"modified":"2025-10-03T22:24:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T22:24:12","slug":"made-in-l-a-at-the-hammer-museum-a-free-art-exhibit-loves-on-local-artists-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/275636\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Made in L.A.\u2019 at the Hammer Museum, a free art exhibit, loves on local artists \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What to Know<\/p>\n<ul class=\"what-to-know__list\">\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">Made in L.A.<\/li>\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">The biennial is marking its seventh edition<\/li>\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">Hammer Museum in Westwood<\/li>\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">Oct. 5 through March 1, 2026<\/li>\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">Free admission<\/li>\n<li class=\"what-to-know__item\">The exhibit honors 28 regional artists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Peering into some ensorcelled scope to get a read on people&#8217;s dreams, big notions, and what&#8217;s next? <\/p>\n<p>Such an invention hasn&#8217;t yet been made reality, alas.<\/p>\n<p>But there is a rather striking way to connect with the visions of people who live around our ultra-creative area, those innovative artists who are tapped into the unseen, the unspoken, and a vast array of ideas that weave profoundly through their work.<\/p>\n<p>That array is on incredible display at <a href=\"https:\/\/hammer.ucla.edu\/exhibitions\/2025\/made-la-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Made in L.A.<\/a>, a region-spanning biennial that is marking its seventh outing. <\/p>\n<p>The exhibit opens at the <a href=\"https:\/\/hammer.ucla.edu\/exhibitions\/2025\/made-la-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hammer Museum<\/a> on Oct. 5, and you can view it, for free, through March 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/11.-Na-Mira_Sugungga-Hello-2024.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Na Mira&#8217;s &#8220;Sugungga&#8221; (Hello) 2024 will be on view as part of the collection.<\/p>\n<p>Some 28 artists will have representation in the show, with an emphasis on &#8220;emerging and under-recognized artists.&#8221; While paintings and photographs will be potently present, video works, sculptures, dance, and more modes of expression will also be featured.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the last 13 years, &#8216;Made in L.A.&#8217; has become an essential platform for demonstrating the breadth and depth of the arts communities that make up Los Angeles,&#8221; said Zo\u00eb Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This exhibition is an opportunity to showcase these brilliant artists and create a moment for Angelenos to come together and celebrate the creative excellence that originates from this city.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Artists hail from &#8220;different generations and disciplines&#8221; and the works are mostly new.<\/p>\n<p>A recreation of &#8220;Eye on &#8217;84&#8221; from 1984, first created by late artist Alonzo Davis, will be on view in the lobby as a &#8220;contemporary mural-scaled installation&#8221; by Patrick Martinez.<\/p>\n<p>Admission to the Hammer Museum is free.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"\/>\n<p>Pictured: &#8220;Safer Than Springtime&#8221; by Pat O&#8217;Neill; the image is courtesy of the artist and Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles; photo by Brian Forrest<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What to Know Made in L.A.
