Democrats in Washington say they won\u2019t vote for the Republican plan to avoid a government shutdown because they\u2019re worried about the end of Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire at the end of the year. Those notifications are going out to consumers now.<\/p>\n

The subsidies are popular with both Democrats and Republicans.<\/p>\n

According to a new KFF Health Tracking Poll<\/a>, 59% of Republicans favor extending the subsidies, which is more than three times the share (22%) who say they want Congress to let the tax credits expire.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eric Linzer, President and CEO of the New York Health Plan Association, discussed the impact on New Yorkers of ending the subsidies with Capital Tonight\u2019s Susan Arbetter.<\/p>\n
