A 35-year-old man has died after being shot point-blank in the head<\/a> in the Bronx on Friday afternoon, cops said.<\/p>\n

A lone gunman opened fire in front of a building on Stebbins Ave. near Boston Rd., one block away from Crotona Park<\/a> around 1:15 p.m., striking Samir Palacios in the head, police said.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said the shooter first went into a nearby deli<\/a> on Boston Rd. before coming out and turning the corner onto Stebbins Ave., where he blasted Palacios at close range.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe shot him in the head,\u201d said a detective at the scene, adding, \u201cThis is a homicide investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a young guy, like a teenager,\u201d a witness said of the shooter. \u201cHe came out (of) the deli, went around the corner, and \u2018pop!\u2019 shot him in the head,\u201d he said, not sharing his name for fear of retaliation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a guy with dreads and glasses,\u201d the witness said of the victim. \u201cHe was dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

EMS rushed Palacios in critical condition to Lincoln Hospital<\/a>, where he died a short time later.<\/p>\n

Hours later at the scene, the victim\u2019s eyeglasses could be seen in a pool of blood on the street, with his headphones a few feet away. A single bullet casing lay in the gutter.<\/p>\n

Palacios lived in the Castle Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, a few miles from where he was shot, according to cops.<\/p>\n

Police have not arrested anyone yet and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
