SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 Even after an arrest, the family of a 21-year-old man shot and killed on the West Side<\/a> this week still has questions. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a father,\u201d his girlfriend, Miracle Rivas, said. \u201cHe was a grandson. He was a son.\u201d <\/p>\n

Pedro Jaramillo<\/a> died on Monday. Officers found him shot multiple times across his body on North Colorado Street near Leal Street. Witnesses told the San Antonio Police Department they saw three to four people run away on nearby train tracks. <\/p>\n

Hours after the shooting, Jaramillo\u2019s family learned what had happened. <\/p>\n

\u201cI lost my mind,\u201d his father, Pedro Jaramillo, said. \u201cI wish that no parent has to go through that.\u201d <\/p>\n

A day after the shooting, an arrest warrant affidavit said the suspect, Dominick Juarez<\/a>, 23, called police and turned himself in with a handgun.<\/p>\n

According to the affidavit, Juarez told officers he was drunk that night with friends and saw Jaramillo approaching with \u201chis hands in his pockets and slouched over.\u201d Juarez said Jaramillo yelled, and that\u2019s when Juarez shot in self-defense. <\/p>\n

But Jaramillo\u2019s family said they don\u2019t believe that story. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want justice for him,\u201d Rivas said. \u201cHe was amazing. He was the happiest person. I could be myself around him.\u201d <\/p>\n

Jaramillo and Rivas have a young daughter and a son on the way. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was just everything,\u201d Rivas said. \u201cHe was a loving, funny, smart, intelligent businessperson, a hardworking man.\u201d <\/p>\n

On Friday night, family and friends of Jaramillo held a vigil. They released balloons and prayed with candles. <\/p>\n

SAPD said the investigation is still active.<\/p>\n
