Carved runs through the 30th, nightly from 6\u201310 pm at the gardens.<\/p>\n<p>Carved is a family-friendly attraction that takes visitors on a tour of the garden transformed into a magical Halloween experience. Along the trails, there are scary pumpkin patches, ghosts and light shows all designed for fun chills. And speaking of chills, bring a sweater since the gardens can get cool after dark in the fall. (Photo by David Crane, Los Angeles Daily News\/SCNG)\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stars of the show are always the custom carved Big Mac pumpkins featured in the Rose Garden. Twelve artists work throughout October to keep fresh carved art on display. According to carver Author Romeo, it takes about three hours to complete a pumpkin. Once the themes for the pumpkins are complete, the carvers get to work creating what Romeo calls \u201clight etching\u201d on the surface of the pumpkins. \u00a0Each pumpkin only lasts about 3-5 days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the run of the show, we will go through about 130 Big Mac pumpkins. \u2026 Right now I\u2019m working on a Wednesday pumpkin for next week, and then, later on in the month, I\u2019ll do the whole family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can watch the artists at work, as well as take a break from the trial with refreshments in the Rose Pavilion at the gardens. A new addition to Descanso Gardens is the Farmhouse Restaurant that will be open during Carved. The new farm-to-table restaurant offers a relaxed yet refined dining experience. Chef Rich Mead highlights local, sustainably sourced ingredients in harmony with nature.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to dine at Farmhouse during your Carved visit, reservations are recommended. https:\/\/www.farmhousedg.org\/reservations\/<\/p>\n<p>Carved at Descanso Gardens runs through October 30, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm daily.
