{"id":278525,"date":"2025-10-05T02:22:49","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T02:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/278525\/"},"modified":"2025-10-05T02:22:49","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T02:22:49","slug":"man-gets-50-year-sentence-for-fatal-2022-hit-and-run-crash-in-nw-harris-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/278525\/","title":{"rendered":"Man gets 50 year sentence for fatal 2022 hit-and-run crash in NW Harris County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>HARRIS COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 A man has been convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 20-year-old from Cypress in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A jury found Destin Quintero guilty of murder and sentenced him to 50 years in prison along with a $10,000 fine. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The crash happened on Nov. 19, 2022, when Harris County Pct. 4 deputies attempted to stop a Jeep Cherokee in the 15500 block of Cypress Rosehill for a traffic violation. Instead of pulling over, Quintero began to evade by speeding up and driving on the wrong side of the road.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Quintero then struck a Dodge Journey in a head-on collision, killing 20-year-old Caleb Rickenbacher. Rickenbacher\u2019s girlfriend, Christina Diaz, was also in the Journey in the passenger\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After the crash, Quintero got out and ran away on foot. Investigators found that the Jeep Cherokee he had been driving was stolen that morning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Quintero was not immediately apprehended.
