No National Guard in Portland Rally and Protest<\/p>\n

Federal agents used chemical crowd control measures and arrested at least six people Saturday after hundreds marched to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building<\/a> to protest the possibility of National Guard troops being deployed in the city<\/a>. <\/p>\n

About 400 people of all ages and races turned out, including families with children and retirees with walkers. As people chanted in front of the ICE building around 2 p.m., a large group of federal officers in gas masks moved into the crowd and pushed some protesters. They pointed less-lethal guns that sprayed pepper balls into the crowd and threw tear gas canisters. <\/p>\n
