TORONTO – In his fourth MLB start, Blue Jays’ right-hander Trey Yesavage draws the Yankees in a playoff game.<\/p>\n

It’s Game 2 of the AL Division Series, and the Yankees will try to get even in this best-of-five with veteran lefty Max Fried going against Toronto’s top prospect – a 2024 first-round draft pick out of East Carolina.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4 Yesavage, 22, has pitched just 14 big-league innings, not going more than five innings in any of his three MLB starts – two against Tampa Bay, one against Kansas City.<\/p>\n

Veteran starters Chris Bassitt (back) and Max Scherzer (9.00 ERA last 6 starts) are not on the Jays’ ALDS roster, and Yesavage said he was “beyond floored” when manager John Schneider told him he’d pitch Game 2.<\/p>\n

And he’s not lacking for any confidence entering Sunday.<\/p>\n

“I’m built for this,” said Yesavage, adding that he feels “at the top of my game right now, which is exactly what this organization wanted. They monitored my innings and pitch count so I’m at my best come October.”<\/p>\n

Armed with a three-pitch arsenal – 95-mph fastball, 89-mph slider, 84-mph splitter – Yesavage has posted a 3.21 ERA with 16 strikeouts, seven walks and zero home runs allowed so far.<\/p>\n

Here’s the Yankees lineup Yesavage will face Sunday afternoon at 4:08 p.m., the same order as in Saturday’s 10-1 loss to Toronto:<\/p>\n
