{"id":280339,"date":"2025-10-05T21:41:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T21:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/280339\/"},"modified":"2025-10-05T21:41:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T21:41:09","slug":"san-antonio-international-airport-nets-12-6-million-supporting-new-billion-dollar-terminal-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/280339\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio International Airport nets $12.6 million supporting new billion dollar terminal project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) received a $12.6 billion grant to support ongoing development for its planned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2024\/12\/10\/san-antonio-international-airport-breaks-ground-on-12-billion-terminal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$1.2 billion terminal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The grant from the Federal Aviation Administration will support elements of the new terminal to include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\">\n<p>Parking relocation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\">\n<p>Airfield drainage reconstruction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\">\n<p>An environmental statement<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">FAA funds will directly funnel into SAT\u2019s Remain Overnight Parking Relocation project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the strong support from both our federal and state partners,\u201d said City Manager Erik Walsh. \u201cThese grants are an investment in the future of our airports and region, helping us move forward with critical projects that improve safety, efficiency, and the overall travel experience for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The project will relocate seven overnight aircraft parking spots closer to Terminal A to maintain service levels and support long-term terminal development, according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Drainage work will upgrade stormwater systems to prevent flooding and help to meet updated FAA and rainfall standards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The environmental statement, meanwhile, will examine the potential ecological impacts of the project and evaluate options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Texas Department of Transportation also awarded Stinson Municipal Airport $1.1 million to support a runway rehabilitation project, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">The grant awards come weeks after SAT announced its 10th cross-country destination: a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/09\/22\/air-canada-launches-nonstop-fights-from-san-antonio-to-ontario\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">nonstop flight service to Toronto<\/a>, operated by Air Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Departures from SAT begin May 2, 2026, the airport said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Read more:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 by KSAT &#8211;
