Takeaways from Eagles’ shocking 21-17 loss tothe Broncos in Week 5<\/p>\n

Buffalo is the NFL’s only unbeaten team after the Eagles (4-1) blew a late 14-point lead<\/a> and struggled offensively again in the second half, falling 21-17 at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/a> Looking to get the passing game going,<\/a> Jalen Hurts targeted DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown often, as the two pass catchers combined for 13 catches, 157 yards, on 18 targets. The aerial focus took away from Saquon Barkley, who finished with just six carries for 30 yards, while adding three catches for 58 yards in the passing game.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia will now have three straight walkthroughs as the team begins preparation for a Thursday night matchup against the New York Giants<\/a> at MetLife Stadium, which will air on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.<\/p>\n

The Eagles<\/a>‘ home winning streak was snapped.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia saw its franchise-record-tying streak of 10 consecutive home games won (including playoffs) snapped, marking its second 10-game winning streak over the last 12 months (also Weeks 6-15 in 2024).<\/p>\n

Eagles’ passing game returned for one half.<\/p>\n

Hurts threw for 280 yards on the afternoon with 38 attempts. He had a 2-yard touchdown pass to\u00a0Dallas Goedert\u00a0and a 47-yard touchdown pass to Barkley in the third quarter for the 17-10 lead. The Eagles had 19 more pass attempts in the second half, for 119 yards, one 47-yard touchdown to Saquon Barkley, and that was it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DeVonta Smith finally had his breakout game, logging eight catches for 114 yards and ten targets. Smith had 75 yards receiving in the first half.<\/p>\n

Courtland Sutton<\/p>\n

Making catches over Quinyon Mitchell and Kelee Ringo, Sutton logged eight catches for 99 yards (12.4 avg) on ten targets.<\/p>\n

Zack Baun<\/p>\n

Baun had 12 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, two QB hits, and one disastrous late hit that drew a costly 15-yard late.<\/p>\n

Jihaad Campbell<\/p>\n
