A worker at a Brooklyn discount store tried to foil a would-be shoplifter Sunday \u2014 only to get stabbed.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old victim, who was not identified, was working at a Family Dollar store on Flatlands Avenue in East New York around 11:48 a.m. when she was slashed by the thief, police and sources said. <\/p>\n
She was taken to Brookdale Hospital by ambulance and was listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n

The store was closed Sunday afternoon with a handwritten sign taped to the window saying it would reopen Monday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to an earlier incident, we will remain closed for the rest of today,\u201d the sign said. \u201cWe apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police said there had been no arrests in the violent encounter but the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

The incident comes less than a week after a 64-year-old worker at a Columbus Circle market died following a scuffle with a would-be thief<\/a> over a six-pack of Heineken. <\/p>\n Last month, a pair of Brooklyn deli\u00a0workers fatally beat a \u201cneighborhood nuisance\u201d<\/a> with a long rap sheet and smacked him in the head with a baton during a deadly scuffle, police and sources said.<\/p>\n
