Football fans: Spotty showers for kickoff<\/p>\n
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 Hey Jacksonville! I know so many of you are getting ready for tonight\u2019s big Jags vs. Chiefs game, and you\u2019re probably wondering if rain will spoil your game plans. <\/p>\n Here\u2019s what you need to know as you head out: you might want to grab a poncho, but don\u2019t worry too much\u2014these showers are expected to be pretty scattered.<\/p>\n At kickoff around 8:15 p.m., the temperature should be right around 77 degrees. It\u2019s looking mostly dry for EverBank Stadium, but I am seeing spotty showers possible in the area. <\/p>\n Based on what I\u2019m seeing from our Exact Track 4D radar, it\u2019s not likely to be a total washout. Showers may pop up, but they should be few and far between.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re planning to tailgate or meet up with friends before the game, early evening hours look mostly clear over Jacksonville. <\/p>\n By the time the game gets started, have some rain gear close by\u2014just in case (remember, no umbrellas allowed in the stadium!). Overall, I\u2019m feeling good about your chances for enjoying some football with minimal weather worries.<\/p>\n Scattered rain and storms<\/b><\/p>\n Let\u2019s talk about the bigger picture. Monday\u2019s weather has been a little nastier than we usually see for October, and showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, especially through the afternoon.<\/p>\n As of about 6 a.m., it\u2019s dry and in the 70s. But, as we move through the day, rain is expected to develop and become spotty across the region.<\/p>\n Heavy rain will likely be setting up south of Jacksonville, with areas like Palatka, Gainesville, and Macclenny expected to see more of the action.<\/p>\n Most of you in Jacksonville will not see a big washout today\u2014just occasional rain popping up here and there. <\/p>\n Around the time school lets out, expect showers and storms to be an issue, especially by 3 p.m. <\/p>\n A few showers could come off the Atlantic this morning, but the heavier activity looks like it\u2019s staying mostly south.<\/p>\n Over the next five days, we\u2019re looking at totals around a half inch to one and a half inches of rain, depending on where you are. <\/p>\n That\u2019s spread out over several days, so nothing overwhelming for most.<\/p>\n mid-70s<\/b><\/p>\n Let\u2019s look at where temperatures are headed. Right now, we\u2019re sitting at 75 degrees in Jacksonville, with the low to mid-70s in Georgia and upper 70s along the coast. <\/p>\n Daytime highs are expected to hover in the low to mid-80s\u2014right near our average of 84 degrees for this time of year.<\/p>\n Winds are already picking up along the coast, sustained in the teens and expected to climb into the 20s as we move through the afternoon\u2014especially on the beach. <\/p>\n If you\u2019re planning a lunch outdoors, keep in mind it could be a bit breezy!<\/p>\n The good news? After today, rain chances are expected to really drop off. <\/p>\n By midweek, you can look forward to some classic October sunshine and higher temperatures returning.
