{"id":281720,"date":"2025-10-06T12:58:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T12:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/281720\/"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:58:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T12:58:12","slug":"silver-lining-new-rail-line-revs-up-north-texas-transit-tourism-ahead-of-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/281720\/","title":{"rendered":"Silver Lining: New rail line revs up North Texas transit, tourism ahead of World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Riders on Fort Worth\u2019s TEXRail system can soon reach more North Texas cities \u2014 thanks to a new 26-mile passenger rail line that launches later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas Area Rapid Transit\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dart.org\/about\/plans-projects-and-initiatives\/expansion\/silver-line-regional-rail-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silver Line<\/a> \u2014 which starts running on Oct. 25 \u2014 will bolster regional transportation systems by connecting with TEXRail at two stations at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, officials said. DART will pay Trinity Metro about $6 million annually for that link.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a welcome addition, no doubt,\u201d said Chris Wallace, president and CEO of the North Texas Commission, a public-private partnership that promotes regional business and workforce development across 13 counties, including Tarrant and Dallas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCities have invested years and years to make this happen. (Courtesy image | Dallas Area Rapid Transit)<\/p>\n<p>Regional transportation systems often play a strategic part in corporate relocations as company leaders consider logistics in not only tapping talent but moving them to job sites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe we have a role to play in making Fort Worth even more attractive to business relocations,\u201d said Richard Andreski, president and CEO of Trinity Metro. \u201cThere\u2019s a handful of things that businesses are looking for when they relocate. \u2026 Access to talent is always in the top three.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, the Silver Line will connect passengers with Denton, Lewisville and Highland Village. (Courtesy image | Trinity Metro)<\/p>\n<p>The Silver Line\u2019s debut comes as <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/texrail-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TEXRail<\/a> is increasingly popular with Fort Worth-area passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Ridership jumped 11% in August compared to the same month last year, Brad Beason, manager of rail operations, told the Trinity Metro board of directors at a Sept. 22 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTEXRail\u2019s ridership continues to increase, as you can see, for the month of August. We had a ridership just above 73,000 riders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Special events, such as GrapeFest in downtown Grapevine, drew about 5,000 train riders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The line\u2019s on-time performance is 98%, Beason said.<\/p>\n<p>To encourage more workers to use rail stations, Trinity Metro officials are discussing upgrades to TEXRail\u2019s DFW stations, which will be shared with the Silver Line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For instance, the north airport station could expand its park-and-ride lot so airport workers can park there and take a short rail trip to Terminal B. Extended parking is also being considered at the station, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Trinity Metro officials will work with airport officials to boost rail station signage and visibility at Terminal B. (Mary Abby Goss | Fort Worth Report)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are on that wavelength,\u201d Anette Landeros, chief strategy officer for Trinity Metro, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all hands on deck. We\u2019re going to look at it together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Riders said they are excited about reaching cities in Dallas and Collin counties via train.<\/p>\n<p>Frequent TEXRail rider Jemini Miller, 24, said she\u2019s impressed that the Silver Line connection will enable her to travel to more cities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s pretty neat,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Wallace said the Silver Line will help more people use transit systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of cities are not part of a transit system,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s great for our region. We should celebrate that success as a region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silver Line rides will be free until Nov. 8, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Eric E.
