The much-anticipated film adaptation of Andy Weir\u2019s 2022 sci-fi novel <\/a>stars Ryan Gosling<\/a> as a middle-school science teacher turned astronaut, and sees Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the heels of the trailer\u2019s release, Project Hail Mary (the novel) has rocketed back to the No. 1 spot on Amazon\u2019s Science Fiction Adventures best-sellers chart<\/a>. The uber-popular novel has garnered awards and acclaim from both critics and fans, and it makes a great pick for summer reading ahead of the film\u2019s March 2026 release date. \n\tLike The Martian<\/a>, Weir\u2019s other best-seller with a film adaptation, Project Hail Mary is part sci-fi adventure, part comedy. It centers on Ryland Grace (Gosling), a middle-school teacher tasked with using his doctorate in molecular biology to save the suddenly-dying sun. But there are a couple of problems: he claims he\u2019s not an astronaut, and the rest of his crew is dead. Things get more complicated when the scientists realize that it\u2019s not only our sun. Every star, except one, is dying. Grace must embark on a solo journey to the singular healthy star to learn its secret.<\/p>\n

\n\tProject Hail Mary has become a smash hit since its release in 2022, winning several awards and receiving very positive reviews from readers.
