And <a href=\"https:\/\/eaterny.substack.com\/subscribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signup<\/a> is free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">A two-alarm fire broke out on Friday, October 4, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montereyny.com\/our-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monterey <\/a>steakhouse, the Art Deco spot at 37 East 50th Street and Madison Avenue. Flames broke out shortly after 1 p.m.on the first floor and spread to the second-floor walls. Over 100 firefighters fought the blaze, who had it under control by just after 5 p.m., with no injuries reported, <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/midtown-nyc\/2-alarm-fire-east-side-steakhouse-fdny-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the FDNY.<\/a> The restaurant is run by chef James Tracey \u2014 formerly of Gramercy Tavern and Craft \u2014 and is known for big-ticket plates like a dry-aged tomahawk for two, lobster thermidor, and a throwback wedge salad. Monterey is part of the larger group led by Simon Oren and Dudi Sasson. It opened in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Chipotle founder opens fourth location uptown<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">A new outpost of <a href=\"https:\/\/counterservice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Counter Service <\/a>\u2014 a sandwich shop founded by Chipotle\u2019s Steve Ells \u2014 is opening on the Upper East Side at 1302 First Avenue, at East 70th Street,<a href=\"https:\/\/eastsidefeed.com\/food-and-drink\/chipotle-founders-sandwich-shop-is-coming-to-the-upper-east-side\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> on October 14<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/eastsidefeed.com\/food-and-drink\/chipotle-founders-sandwich-shop-is-coming-to-the-upper-east-side\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/2\/25\/24372080\/counter-service-opening-sandwich-chain-steve-ells-kernel-flip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The shop <\/a>serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches (priced around $16\u2013$19), including orders like the Baron (roast beef, white cheddar, watercress, horseradish mayo) and the Smokeshow (house-roasted chicken, barbecue sauce, triple jalape\u00f1os), plus the vegetarian Gigante.<a href=\"https:\/\/eastsidefeed.com\/food-and-drink\/chipotle-founders-sandwich-shop-is-coming-to-the-upper-east-side\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a>This will be Counter Service\u2019s fourth NYC location (joining spots on West 14th Street, Park Avenue South, and East Fourth Street).<\/p>\n<p>A giant Greek restaurant is headed for Soho<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">A lease was signed for a 10,000-square-foot ground-floor space at<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/05\/business\/modernhaus-soho-hotel-getting-new-restaurant\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 23 Grand Street<\/a>, near the foot of Sixth Avenue, inside the<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/05\/business\/modernhaus-soho-hotel-getting-new-restaurant\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> ModernHaus SoHo<\/a> hotel.
