Unfortunately, it looks like the Detroit Lions injuries are starting to pile up again. Just about a week after the Lions placed starting cornerback D.J. Reed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, it appears they will now be without their other starting outside corner. Lions coach Dan Campbell announced on Monday that Terrion Arnold suffered a long-term shoulder injury on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s going to be out for a while,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cHe\u2019s going to be out for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked if it was a season-ending injury, Campbell said he didn\u2019t know quite yet, but repeated that it would be \u201ca while.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a tough break for Arnold, who has had a bumpy start to his career. After a flag-happy rookie season, he came in to 2025 with a lot of hype out of training camp. He struggled in his first few games, but Campbell was impressed with how he played on Sunday against the Bengals.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was very competitive. I thought he was calm. I thought he was cool, and I thought this was one of the better games he\u2019s played in a while. I thought he was really good,\u201d Campbell said.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been a rough year for Lions cornerbacks. Before the season even began, Lions 2024 second-round pick Ennis Rakestraw suffered a season-ending injury. Now Reed is out for at least three more games, reserve cornerback Khalil Dorsey is out for \u201ca while\u201d as well with a new wrist injury, and Arnold appears to be headed for injured reserve.<\/p>\n
That leaves the Lions extremely shorthanded at cornerback, although the Lions did sign Tre Flowers and Nick Whiteside to their practice squad last week.
