PHOENIX \u2014 Phoenix scorched its way into the record books on Monday.<\/p>\n

Monday marked the hottest day in Phoenix ever recorded on June 30 as temperatures hit a blistering 116 degrees<\/a> at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for the city\u2019s official readings.<\/p>\n

The previous record was 115 degrees, set in 2013.<\/p>\n

The mercury reached 116 degrees around 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

New record set for hottest day in Phoenix on June 30<\/p>\n

While a heat record was set on June 30, it was not the hottest day of the year so far.<\/p>\n

June 19 has been Phoenix\u2019s hottest day of 2025.<\/p>\n

On that day, two weeks ago, the mercury at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hit 117 degrees<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Phoenix extreme heat news<\/p>\n

The heat record took place amid a wave of extreme heat across metro Phoenix.<\/p>\n

NWS activated an extreme heat warning<\/a> for the Valley on Sunday. These warnings alert Phoenicians that dangerous heat is either actively settling upon the area or is\u00a0imminent.<\/p>\n

Due to the conditions, various Phoenix hiking trails<\/a> are restricted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on extreme heat warning days.<\/p>\n

The extreme heat warning is set to expire Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
