{"id":283280,"date":"2025-10-07T05:23:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T05:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/283280\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T05:23:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T05:23:10","slug":"andy-cohen-will-interview-howard-stern-as-siriusxm-talks-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/283280\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Cohen Will Interview Howard Stern as SiriusXM Talks Continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/andy-cohen\/\" id=\"auto-tag_andy-cohen_1\" data-tag=\"andy-cohen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andy Cohen<\/a> plans to interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/howard-stern\/\" id=\"auto-tag_howard-stern_1\" data-tag=\"howard-stern\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Howard Stern<\/a> this week, as contract negotiations at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/siriusxm\/\" id=\"auto-tag_siriusxm_1\" data-tag=\"siriusxm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SiriusXM<\/a> continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe interview with Stern and Cohen, who is also part of the SiriusXM family, comes after months of speculation about Stern\u2019s contract at the satellite radio empire and the impact on the company should he leave. Speaking at an event for advertisers in New York Monday, SiriusXM leaders say they are interested in keeping Stern, while also pointing to its full bench of talent in podcasting and radio, including Cohen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/alex-cooper\/\" id=\"auto-tag_alex-cooper_1\" data-tag=\"alex-cooper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Cooper<\/a> and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cHe has a lot of fans on the platform. And I\u2019m encouraged. I think we\u2019re gonna get to the right place,\u201d SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz told THR of Stern. \u201cAnd it\u2019s really about what does Howard want? What do we want? What do our listeners want? And I think something will come together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor his part, Cohen, who has his own radio empire at SiriusXM and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/howard-stern-denies-siriusxm-firing-rumors-i-cant-leave-now-1236357061\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently pranked listener<\/a>s of Stern\u2019s show by taking over his show, calls Stern an \u201cinspiration\u201d for his own career and said he plans to ask a range of hard-hitting questions. The interview is set to take place Tuesday and air Friday on Radio Andy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI want to talk to him about why he\u2019s such a recluse. He\u2019s approaching Howard Hughes\u2019 levels, and I want to try to get him out of the house,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cI want to talk to him about his contract. I want to talk to him about politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s someone who always goes there, and so am I,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile Witz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/howard-stern-siriusxm-contract-renewal-talks-ceo-1236361099\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has called Stern<\/a> a \u201ccore\u201d part of SiriusXM, the company has also been building out its next generation of talent by positioning itself as a talent-friendly destination and one that will help creators build out their brands and introduce a new slate of stars.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe take rising voices, try to make them stars, and then we give stars the platform to build their own empire,\u201d Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer at SiriusXM, said on stage at the event. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAt the upfront event, SiriusXM played videos from talent including Cooper and Conan O\u2019Brien, who both have large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/podcast\/\" id=\"auto-tag_podcast_1\" data-tag=\"podcast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">podcast<\/a> networks there; as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/stephen-a-smith-to-launch-two-new-shows-with-siriusxm-1236255244\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephen A. Smith<\/a>, who recently signed on for two radio shows; Trevor Noah; the SmartLess podcast hosts; and Cooper, one of the biggest podcasters for her show, Call Her Daddy, as well as her Unwell podcast network. Cooper has been seen as a key asset for the company because of her large, young listenership base, which is appealing to advertisers and helps the company\u2019s demographics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe own Gen-Z women,\u201d Cooper said of her podcasting network on stage Monday. \u201cWhat we\u2019re looking for is to fill each category.\u201d She then went on to list her network\u2019s podcasts in beauty, talk and therapy with a possible expansion into sports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAs it was with Stern, Cohen and several members of SiriusXM\u2019s talent slate say they\u2019re drawn to the company because of the creative freedom they\u2019re given on the platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThey\u2019re incredibly focused on free expression and on creativity and letting me do whatever I want to do. They don\u2019t give me notes saying \u2018You can\u2019t do that.\u2019 It\u2019s really just, \u2018How do we make it happen?\u2019 That\u2019s a pretty amazing thing to have a blank slate, especially in 2025, the media landscape as it is,\u201d said Cohen, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/andy-cohen-siriusxm-show-renewed-1236371676\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=exacttarget&amp;utm_campaign=Today+In+Entertainment+September+16+2025&amp;utm_content=633918_9-16-2025&amp;utm_id=633918\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently resigned <\/a>with SiriusXM after ten years at the company and has a slate of shows on his radio channel, Radio Andy, as well as his own daily show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPodcasting in particular has proven to be a big driver for the company in terms of ad revenue, with Witz saying the company leads industry monetization in terms of revenue per download. SiriusXM currently has deals with half of the top 20 podcasts, according to Edison Research, but Witz said there could still be room for more, particularly when it comes to fitting certain niches that are attractive to advertisers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe don\u2019t really think about, let\u2019s get half of the top 20,\u201d Witz said. \u201cIt\u2019s more about which ones are growing and just kind of building audiences and on the ascent, or fit a certain demographic or kind of content.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI mean, everyone\u2019s calling, everyone wants to look and see what\u2019s out there. And I do think we have a lot of flexibility because of how we\u2019ve been able to monetize, and the idea that, I think we are very creator-friendly,\u201d she added. \u201cBut we\u2019re not going to do a deal to do a deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile podcasting has been on the rise, Witz said the \u201ccar is still core\u201d to SiriusXM in terms of its satellite business. However, the subscriber base has been slowly churning down over the past several years to land just under 33 million, and there are concerns that if Stern were to depart, he would take away a swath of listeners. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe company has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/digital\/siriusxm-q2-2025-earnings-report-subscribers-podcasting-1236334612\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brought subscriber churn down<\/a> to around 1.5 percent to 1.6 percent, and Witz said she sees more opportunities to bring that even lower by exposing customers engaging in free trials to more of SiriusXM\u2019s content and learning more about their listening habits. Greenstein has also previously floated the idea of converting listeners of popular podcasters to subscribers, in some form.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cAlex Cooper\u2019s music channel on Sirius is doing really well, and that\u2019s obviously geared to a younger audience. So we\u2019re going to look at where that calibration is and start to see where something might be younger, but yet ripe for subscription. And while we\u2019re waiting that out, we\u2019re going to continue to monetize heavily younger content in the podcast market,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/digital\/siriusxm-q2-2025-earnings-report-subscribers-podcasting-1236334612\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenfield said in <\/a>July.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe current goal is to stabilize the subscriber base, and then Witz also sees the potential for more growth in satellite.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI still think we have more opportunity to bring listeners to Sirius XM from AMFM and in the car,\u201d Witz said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tShe added, \u201c35 to 50 [years old] is still a big opportunity for us, because we\u2019d started the service 20 years ago.
