A new report from the city\u2019s Department of Social Services details the record-breaking progress the agency has made in connecting New Yorkers to permanent homes.<\/p>\n
The agency says that today, more than 60,000 households use the city\u2019s housing voucher program, which is known as CityFHEPS.<\/p>\n
The program helps New Yorkers move out of the city\u2019s shelter system and into affordable housing.<\/p>\n
The social services agency also says it has connected more than 37,500 New Yorkers in shelter to subsidized housing this year, which is the highest number of subsidized placements in more than two decades.<\/p>\n
But, it\u2019s not all good news, as officials are sounding the alarm about cuts to key federal programs under the Trump administration.<\/p>\n
Department of Social Services Commissioner Molly Wasow Park joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on \u201cInside City Hall\u201d to talk about what\u2019s at stake.<\/p>\n
DSS oversees both the human resources administration and homeless services.<\/p>\n
