Yes, it\u2019s another waiver wire week with a major running back injury. This time, it\u2019s <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"z6YCkeq0Ksswu5CM\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/omarion-hampton-z6YCkeq0Ksswu5CM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omarion Hampton<\/a>. We have other worries too, including what to make of Woody Marks. But don\u2019t fret, there\u2019s good stuff too, like <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"oVAzTObnnRmKAhlx\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jacory-croskey-merritt-oVAzTObnnRmKAhlx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacory Croskey-Merritt<\/a> saving the day. Just be forewarned, the Week 6 waivers are a bit thin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heads Up<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players must be under 60% rostered on Yahoo<\/li>\n<li>Listed in <strong>order of preference<\/strong>: I\u2019ll regularly prioritize potential upside over immediate replacement production\n<ul>\n<li>RB backups have a separate secondary list based solely on the lead option getting hurt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>No FAB suggestions: It varies wildly by league tendencies and always relative (if you lost your RB1 to injury and there is a clear backup, you\u2019re going to be more aggressive)<\/li>\n<li>Streaming QB and TE are grouped together \u2014 weekly ranking can change once projections\/ranks run \u2014 DST could shift a bit too<\/li>\n<li>Emojis for brevity\n<ul>\n<li>\ud83d\ude0f = mentioned multiple times, multiple weeks \u2014 either you want him, or don\u2019t<\/li>\n<li>\ud83e\udee1 = Next Man Up but with deeper startability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BYES: Houston, Minnesota<\/strong><strong>Worry Report<br \/>(Scale 1-5: more ducks = more worry)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"WwaYzkurfFHmt48I\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/woody-marks-WwaYzkurfFHmt48I\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woody Marks<\/a>, RB, HOU<\/strong>: \ud83e\udd86\ud83e\udd86 \u2014 Don\u2019t fully panic. Marks still out-snapped <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"NW1Jv9Ej3oDBk3yr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/nick-chubb-NW1Jv9Ej3oDBk3yr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nick Chubb<\/a> (25 to 23) with a large 17-to-10 gap in the passing game. Of course, we know Chubb had the better fantasy game, but maybe surprisingly, Marks actually had a better EPA\/Play than Chubb (1.47 to 0.56). Sure, that shows a bit of the problem of trusting only EPA as the be-all-end-all, but it does add some context to the situations both were in. The backfield will continue to be a near-even split, but Marks still has the higher ceiling and more appealing value given his passing game work.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"j9BQDBr9Se8RQ1e4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/chris-godwin-j9BQDBr9Se8RQ1e4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Godwin<\/a>, WR, TB<\/strong>: \ud83e\udd86\ud83e\udd86\ud83e\udd86 \u2014 Godwin looks pretty close to his pre-injury self, but even so, he has a mere 6-for-52 receiving on 14 targets. The good news is that he\u2019s clearly the No. 2 option, but the bad news is that <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"zEpIAizdGk76yimT\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/mike-evans-zEpIAizdGk76yimT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mike Evans<\/a> is another week closer to returning. Given <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"YuclanYoFZnq18gf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/emeka-egbuka-YuclanYoFZnq18gf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emeka Egbuka<\/a>\u2019s terrific rookie season, Godwin could easily be the odd man out, similar to <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"W0zSpzqMtojpbArU\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/tyler-boyd-W0zSpzqMtojpbArU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tyler Boyd<\/a> the year the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"37\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/bengals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bengals<\/a> drafted <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"ToHiDqo1AnUHYTWK\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jamarr-chase-ToHiDqo1AnUHYTWK\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ja\u2019Marr Chase<\/a>. That would make Godwin a WR4.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"9NHrY7HxyKCR40Kh\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/justin-herbert-9NHrY7HxyKCR40Kh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justin Herbert<\/a>, QB, LAC<\/strong>: \ud83e\udd86\ud83e\udd86\ud83e\udd86 \u2014 Over the past three weeks, no quarterback has a higher percentage of plays where they were hit or sacked than Herbert (25.2%). <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"0lQDEpnpDyZhA4BO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/joe-flacco-0lQDEpnpDyZhA4BO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Flacco<\/a> would be higher (27.0%), but he was replaced in Week 5. Additionally, Herbert has the eighth-highest Sack% (8.6) and is the only quarterback inside the Top 13 with fewer than 2.3 rushes and scrambles per game (the more they try to scramble, the more likely a sack is \u2014 hence, <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"8vrQt8GE4bS4X4Xa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/lamar-jackson-8vrQt8GE4bS4X4Xa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lamar Jackson<\/a>, <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"yhzPJprUoEnfzPvf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jalen-hurts-yhzPJprUoEnfzPvf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jalen Hurts<\/a> and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"eL4iHBPbCAbU6Gmw\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/drake-maye-eL4iHBPbCAbU6Gmw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Drake Maye<\/a> as No. 1-3). One more point of evidence: Herbert is only behind Jackson in Pressure% on dropbacks (<a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"iJrFtUU6uxSN7miK\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/russell-wilson-iJrFtUU6uxSN7miK\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russell Wilson<\/a> and Flacco would rank higher if starting) at 43.5%. As seen with <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"OeqLvbJNbGyXeJqu\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/daniel-jones-OeqLvbJNbGyXeJqu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Jones<\/a>, a good offensive line can help get the best out of a quarterback. Conversely, a bad offensive line can hurt even the more accomplished players. Herbert has one touchdown in each of the past three games, with four interceptions, after 5 TDs and zero interceptions in the first two games. The <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"47\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/dolphins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dolphins<\/a> might appear to be a good matchup, but they\u2019re actually seventh-best at QB Pressure% with only four rushers (39.8%), and then the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"48\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/vikings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vikings<\/a> are up after them. The schedule is up-and-down in that regard, and that\u2019s what Herbert\u2019s play could easily be.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Power Up Players<br \/>(Scale 1-5: more Mario mushrooms = more excitement)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, WAS<\/strong>: \ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44 \u2014 Finally! Not only did Croskey-Merritt get the start and not <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"nwe1tRwxdzvbCNoN\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/chris-rodriguez-nwe1tRwxdzvbCNoN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Rodriguez<\/a>, but he out-touched the combination of Rodriguez and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"h8IJEDmmgsMWGvE9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jeremy-mcnichols-h8IJEDmmgsMWGvE9\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeremy McNichols<\/a> 16-to-7. Even more encouraging: JCM had two targets (catching 2-for-39), equaling McNichols\u2019 two targets. Lastly, players with more Yards per Touch than JCM in Week 5? <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"NJxDrUdY0dwJPjnk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/saquon-barkley-NJxDrUdY0dwJPjnk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saquon Barkley<\/a> with 9.8 to his 9.4. Oh, by the way \u2026 what the hell, <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"54\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/eagles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eagles<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"IkPln5l70jAh8jIG\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/theo-johnson-IkPln5l70jAh8jIG\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theo Johnson<\/a>, TE, NYG<\/strong>: \ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44 \u2014 Even before <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"7INPz2pLmnxnHIcr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/darius-slayton-7INPz2pLmnxnHIcr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Darius Slayton<\/a> left late with an injury, Johnson was a top-three option for <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"SMjdBnXQu4j4Lguz\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jaxson-dart-SMjdBnXQu4j4Lguz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaxson Dart<\/a> and the only one with end zone targets (two). With Slayton likely sidelined this week, Johnson can easily be Dart\u2019s No. 2 weapon, putting him in the TE1 conversation. Even with Slayton back, Johnson \u2014 who was putting up numbers at Penn State before many knew of <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"wHPInk7yUqxrecf3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/tyler-warren-wHPInk7yUqxrecf3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tyler Warren<\/a> \u2014 can keep a fringe TE1 value, as the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"51\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giants<\/a> trudge on without <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"R6o9RQ6D5FTIKBcv\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/malik-nabers-R6o9RQ6D5FTIKBcv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malik Nabers<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"UtIo2JIONtuLNq5x\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/darren-waller-UtIo2JIONtuLNq5x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Darren Waller<\/a>, TE, MIA<\/strong>: \ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44\ud83c\udf44 \u2014 Speaking of being a team\u2019s No. 2 \u2026 Waller might be the Dolphins\u2019 No. 1 option some weeks. Waller and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"wKZ27uj2sAItYJRQ\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/julian-hill-wKZ27uj2sAItYJRQ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Julian Hill<\/a> were the only Dolphins players with an end zone target in Week 5. Waller now has a receiving line of 9-8-105-3 through two games, with targets on 24.3% of his routes and three end zone targets (Hill still being second \u2026 with one). Waller is inside the Top 10 tight ends until further notice. Heck, only the snap share is keeping him from being guaranteed the top tier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Streaming Quarterbacks<\/strong><strong>\u201cThou Shall Not\u2026 Pass!\u201d<br \/>(No thanks, not worth the risk)<\/strong><strong>Waiver Wire Running Backs<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"HkEmvXwEObnc0Moq\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/michael-carter-HkEmvXwEObnc0Moq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Carter<\/a>, ARI<\/strong> \u2014 Of all the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"31\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/ari-cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardinals<\/a> talk, one thing was true: Carter was\/is the lead option. <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"LuDCRGKCTFVWoym6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/emari-demercado-LuDCRGKCTFVWoym6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emari Demercado<\/a> did see passing game work, and possibly saw his role diminish after thinking he\u2019d crossed the goal line and dropping the ball on the one-yard line. The Cardinals have the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"44\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/colts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colts<\/a> and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"42\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/packers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packers<\/a> before their bye and another favorable matchup against the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"39\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/cowboys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cowboys<\/a> for Week 9. Carter is an RB3 with weekly RB2 upside given the offense and his workload (74.2 RBTouch% in a well-controlled game \u2026 until the end \u2026 sorry, survivor pickers).<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"MCSu4cu7pDNJr2HX\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/kimani-vidal-MCSu4cu7pDNJr2HX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimani Vidal<\/a>, LAC<\/strong> \u2014 Vidal is a better version of Demercado for the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"56\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/chargers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chargers<\/a>, in that his involvement would be higher. So Vidal potentially has the higher ceiling than <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"5NazT4T2NkmWqW6y\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/hassan-haskins-5NazT4T2NkmWqW6y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hassan Haskins<\/a>, especially in half and full-PPR. Don\u2019t be surprised if this is a hot-hand situation, though, and rather infuriating.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hassan Haskins, LAC<\/strong> \u2014 Haskins has ties to Jim Harbaugh from Michigan. He could be the early-down and short-yard option or a complete secondary piece. As mentioned, it could be who has the hot hand, so grab Vidal and Haskins if you can, but don\u2019t expect league-changing value.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"qsrF8CVWw24iwJ2Q\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/rico-dowdle-qsrF8CVWw24iwJ2Q\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rico Dowdle<\/a>, CAR<\/strong> \u2014 Third in Yards Per Touch (9.0), first in YPR (9.0), first in total yards (234), first in our hearts? Dowdle kicked the door open and ripped it off the hinges on his way to a likely timeshare with <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"IYn7GkEINqUslRyH\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/chuba-hubbard-IYn7GkEINqUslRyH\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chuba Hubbard<\/a> once he returns.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"AKveIkM4uDeUJtb0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/kenneth-gainwell-AKveIkM4uDeUJtb0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kenneth Gainwell<\/a>, PIT<\/strong> \u2014 Don\u2019t forget about his game before the bye. Gainwell could have forced the <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"55\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/team\/steelers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steelers<\/a> to give him more of the share, especially in an effort to keep <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"J75IZX5jHlFuYFtA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/jaylen-warren-J75IZX5jHlFuYFtA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaylen Warren<\/a> healthy.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"T5S0zj98xWgO9vHx\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/kendre-miller-T5S0zj98xWgO9vHx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kendre Miller<\/a>, NO<\/strong> \u2014 Up to 47.8 RBTouch%, compared to 52.2% for <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"P97exASS2fLu1NYP\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/alvin-kamara-P97exASS2fLu1NYP\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Kamara<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"sczLVrMWLk1VBoau\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/kyle-monangai-sczLVrMWLk1VBoau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyle Monangai<\/a>, CHI<\/strong> \u2014 Sometimes teams make personnel changes out of the bye, and <a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"cWsPQC7Rmam5Z0pU\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/dandre-swift-cWsPQC7Rmam5Z0pU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">D\u2019Andre Swift<\/a> has been the definition of volume-reliant.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a class=\"ath_autolink\" data-id=\"J0Bgb4ps1tg6fGuG\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/nfl\/player\/tyjae-spears-J0Bgb4ps1tg6fGuG\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tyjae Spears<\/a>, TEN<\/strong> \u2014 Only 18.2 RBTouch% in his first game back, but Spears\u2019 ability will push for more opportunities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emari Demercado, ARI<\/strong> \u2014 Still saw 70.6 Snap% on passing downs.
