{"id":28350,"date":"2025-06-30T23:24:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-30T23:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/28350\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T23:24:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T23:24:11","slug":"walmart-store-in-texas-refuses-to-accept-cash-from-this-one-place-and-the-internet-agrees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/28350\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart Store in Texas Refuses To Accept Cash From This One Place &#8211; And The Internet Agrees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Walmart&#8217;s stores in Texas has refused to accept cash from one particularly lucrative place\u2013 and the internet loudly supports its decision.<\/p>\n<p>Allegedly displayed in a Texas Walmart, a sign informed customers that they would no longer be accepting cash that had been pulled out of someone&#8217;s bra.<\/p>\n<p>A photo of the sign was posted in the <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/walmart\/comments\/1kmwt70\/walmart_in_texas_lol\/\" target=\"_blank\">r\/walmart<\/a> subreddit, and has garnered a large amount of foot traffic, with users jumping to the comment section to profess their agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Reddit Post Goes Viral<\/p>\n<p>Captioned &#8216;Walmart in texas lol&#8217; with a photo of the sign pictured below, the post has received over 8000 upvotes and around 150 comments.<\/p>\n<p>The sign outlined that the store would &#8216;no longer be accepting money carried in your bra&#8217; due to &#8216;the increase in temperatures.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"mapping-embed imgPhoto\" id=\"i1741246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/walmart-sign.png\" alt=\"Walmart Sign\" width=\"736\" height=\"414\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The photo was posted on the r\/walmart subreddit under the caption &#8216;Walmart in Texas lol&#8217;<br \/>\nreddit\/Inferno13820<\/p>\n<p>Reddit users banned together to flood the comments section with support for Walmart&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Comments included, &#8216;I work in a grocery store and want to hang up this sign so badly,&#8217; &#8216;Should be bra, socks, underwear and anywhere else that&#8217;s not a purse or wallet,&#8217; and &#8216;Yeah, I get that boobs are a good way to store stuff, but no one wants to touch anything that comes from them.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Other users commented on similar signs they&#8217;d seen in other stores.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I saw a sign in Georgia that said &#8220;No Sock or Tiddy Money&#8221;!&#8217; One user posted. Another replied, &#8216;Same for Missouri. My local Dollar store has it on the counter.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>US Businesses Can Refuse To Accept Cash By Law<\/p>\n<p>There is no law outright banning businesses from refusing to accept cash in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/faqs\/currency_12772.htm#:~:text=Ask%20Us-,Is%20it%20legal%20for%20a%20business%20in%20the%20United%20States,when%20tendered%20to%20a%20creditor.\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Reserve,<\/a> &#8216;Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law that says otherwise.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>There are no laws in the state of Texas or any Texas city which force businesses to accept cash.<\/p>\n<p>Hold on\u2013 Is This Real?<\/p>\n<p>Some of the comments on the r\/walmart post were quick to point out that the sign may not be recent\u2013 or even real.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That pic&#8217;s older than me,&#8217; one user said, receiving 50 upvotes on their comment. Another replied, &#8216;And it was still fake back then lol.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Looks like an old dollar general post,&#8217; someone commented.<\/p>\n<p>The validity of the post has yet to be confirmed. Walmart has yet to comment on whether the sign belongs to one of their stores.<\/p>\n<p>Cashiers Being Given &#8216;Gross&#8217; Money An Ongoing Issue<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of validity, the post has brought attention to the internet&#8217;s long term disgust with shoppers paying with &#8216;gross&#8217; money.<\/p>\n<p>A <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AmItheAsshole\/comments\/ervuqo\/wibta_if_i_refused_to_take_money_that_was_held_in\/\" target=\"_blank\">reddit post<\/a> from five years ago in the subreddit r\/AmITheAsshole also complained of receiving &#8216;bra money.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>They titled their post, &#8216;WIBTA [would I be the asshole] if I refused to take money that was held in someone&#8217;s bra?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The user explained that they would receive cash or credit cards from a customers bra at least once a week at the restaurant they worked at.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;WIBTA in the eyes of my managers if I refused to touch that? I just fear that they will have no other form of payment and then I won&#8217;t know what to do,&#8217; they asked the subreddit.<\/p>\n<p>The answer provided by 178 comments was a resounding &#8216;no.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;NAH &#8211; The real assholes are the people who don&#8217;t make women&#8217;s clothing to have reasonable pockets,&#8217; read the top comment, with 286 upvotes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;NTA [not the asshole]: simply put, it&#8217;s an area that gets sweaty. Not hygienic, and where I&#8217;m from, a lot of shops refuse to accept bra\/sock money during the summer when people don&#8217;t have the pockets in clothes they normally wear,&#8217; another user shared.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;NTA as a teen I worked at walmart. I would refuse to accept any money from a bra or sock. Call the manager I dont care.
