Miller and Artemi Panarin are \u201cgood to go\u201d against the Penguins on Opening Night Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed Monday after practice at the University of Rhode Island.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both forwards were full participants in the Rangers practice at Boss Ice Arena.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While Panarin skated on the left wing of Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafreni\u00e8re, Miller took reps in the middle of Will Cuylle and Mika Zibanejad to make up the Rangers top six.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old Panarin didn\u2019t play a single exhibition game this preseason primarily due to a lower-body injury, but an upper-body injury also arose at the end. <\/p>\n<p>At morning skate ahead of their second-to-last preseason contest, Panarin took line rushes but ultimately did not dress for what were described as precautionary reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miller, on the other hand, logged 21:21 of ice time in one exhibition game, the 5-4 loss to the Islanders, before suffering a noncontact lower-body injury in practice Sept. 30. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.35449735;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37313200\" width=\"799\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/10-new-york-rangers-held-111667021_d0031b.jpg\" alt=\"New York Rangers player Artemi Panarin #10 during training camp.\" class=\"wp-image-37313200\"  \/>Artemi Panarin skates with the puck during Rangers practice on Sept. 18, 2025.  Robert Sabo for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>He wore a red noncontact jersey for practice Friday, but was in a regular jersey Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the anticipated top six back intact, Conor Sheary skated on the left wing of Noah Laba and Taylor Raddysh to make up the third unit. <\/p>\n<p>Adam Edstrom, Sam Carrick and Matt Rempe composed the fourth line, while Juuso Parssinen and Brett Berard rotated in as extras.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.91308594;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37313226\" width=\"539\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/new-york-rangers-center-j-112148044.jpg\" alt=\"J.T. JASON SZENES\/ NY POST<\/p>\n<p>The defense lined up the same way it has for a majority of the preseason, with Vladislav Gavrikov and Adam Fox serving as the top pairing. <\/p>\n<p>Carson Soucy skated with Will Borgen and Urho Vaakanainen lined up with Braden Schneider.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Robertson rotated in as the seventh defenseman.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The first power-play unit featured Panarin, Miller, Zibanejad and Trocheck, while the second included Schneider, Lafreni\u00e8re, Sheary, Rempe and Cuylle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRead the expert take on the Blueshirts\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Larry Brooks&#8217; Inside the Rangers, a weekly Sports+ exclusive.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur intention going through the course of the camp was to get him involved in the first unit,\u201d Sullivan said of Lafreni\u00e8re. \u201cOur intention will be to continue to get him involved in the first unit, but we have to have some semblance of order and give guys repetition. So that was part of the process today. I would envision you seeing Laf on both units. We got some reps on the second unit today, but I would envision him moving forward getting opportunities to play with that top group, and that\u2019s why we\u2019ve worked him into that top group a lot of training camp.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What are Sullivan\u2019s emotions going against his former team of 10 years, the Penguins, in Games 1 and 3 to start the 2025-26 season?\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know that I can answer you right now. It\u2019ll probably be a better question for after the game,\u201d he said. \u201cI haven\u2019t really given it much thought. My focus has been on the Rangers and trying to prepare this team for the drop of the puck. I really haven\u2019t entertained any sort of thoughts around what that experience will be like. Obviously, I was there a long time and built relationships with players and people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so grateful for the opportunity that I had there. It was an incredible privilege to coach those guys. So from that standpoint, I\u2019m sure there\u2019ll be some mixed emotions.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jonny Brodzinski has not been around the team the past two days.
