{"id":284404,"date":"2025-10-07T17:14:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T17:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284404\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T17:14:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T17:14:17","slug":"coroner-releases-cause-of-death-of-hollywood-7-eleven-employee-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284404\/","title":{"rendered":"Coroner releases cause of death of Hollywood 7-Eleven employee \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A cause of death has been determined in the case of a Hollywood 7-Eleven employee who was hospitalized after an altercation at the store in June and later died.<\/p>\n<p>The woman, identified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/hollywood-convenience-store-death\/3737902\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/hollywood-convenience-store-death\/3737902\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">24-year-old Jessica McLaughlin<\/a>, was listed as anoxic encephalopathy, a condition in which the brain is deprived of oxygen for a prolonged period. Other causes listed in the coroner&#8217;s report included cardiopulmonary arrest status post cardiopulmonary resuscitation, indicating CPR did not work, and exacerbation of asthma.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/tag\/lapd\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/tag\/lapd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LAPD<\/a> officers responded to the 7-Eleven store located on the 5700 block of Melrose Avenue on June 24 at around 2:15 p.m. According to preliminary information, two women were in a verbal altercation that later turned physical.<\/p>\n<p>When police arrived, McLaughlin was found unconscious on the floor of the store, the LAPD said. She was hospitalized in critical condition and later died. <\/p>\n<p>LAPD sources told NBC4 Investigates that authorities found no criminal culpability, but that the district attorney will make a final filing decision.
