{"id":284488,"date":"2025-10-07T18:12:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T18:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284488\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T18:12:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T18:12:11","slug":"northwest-isd-keller-isd-extend-fort-worth-police-department-sro-contracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284488\/","title":{"rendered":"Northwest ISD, Keller ISD extend Fort Worth Police Department SRO contracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tThe contract for school resource officers, or SROs, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kellerisd.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keller ISD<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nisdtx.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwest ISD<\/a> has been extended for another year.<\/p>\n<p>During the Sept. 30 Fort Worth City Council meeting, an <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthgov.legistar.com\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=7667902&amp;GUID=7E96A157-327F-4C40-A967-B464A18CD75E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreement<\/a> between those schools, as well as Fort Worth ISD and <a href=\"https:\/\/lenapope.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lena Pope Home Inc.,<\/a> was approved for $9.18 million to provide SROs for the 2025-26 fiscal year, which started Oct. 1. <a href=\"https:\/\/police.fortworthtexas.gov\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Worth Police Department<\/a> officers will work in schools within Fort Worth city limits.<\/p>\n<p>The contract will run through Sept. 30, 2026, according to city documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FWISD will have 70% of the SROs, or 55, of the 78 that are listed in the contract working within the schools. The fiscal year 2025-26 cost for FWISD is $6.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>KISD will be assigned 12 officers, followed by 10 to NISD and 1 to Lena Pope Home, which is in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p>The cost for KISD is $1.48 million and $1.16 million for NISD, according to city documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>KISD will have one mobile officer that will rotate between schools within the school district and will reimburse the <a href=\"https:\/\/police.fortworthtexas.gov\/ccpd#:~:text=The%20Crime%20Control%20and%20Prevention,each%20District%20in%20the%20City.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Worth Crime and Control Prevention District<\/a> 100% for the officer costs.<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned ISDs and Lena Pope will fund 100% of the costs for 11 supervisor and relief positions within the SRO program. That includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 relief officers<\/li>\n<li>2 detectives<\/li>\n<li>6 sergeants<\/li>\n<li>1 lieutenant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to city documents, the total SRO budget is $16.2 million, with $9.18 million allocated for the participating school agreements.
