{"id":284965,"date":"2025-10-07T22:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T22:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284965\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T22:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T22:56:09","slug":"how-to-keep-stink-bugs-from-making-your-home-their-winter-retreat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/284965\/","title":{"rendered":"How to keep stink bugs from making your home their winter retreat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KALAMAZOO, Mich. \u2014 If you\u2019ve seen a lot of stink bugs lately, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n<p>The months of September and October are when these pests try to find a warm place before winter, and many times it\u2019s your home.<\/p>\n<p>Stink bugs typically emerge in the spring and breed during the warmer months.<\/p>\n<p>With how warm this fall has been, this gives them more time to breed.<\/p>\n<p>Stink bugs also don\u2019t have many natural predators in the United States due to the fact that they are an invasive species.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until the mid 1990s that these bugs showed up in the U.S., and they have grown in numbers ever since.<\/p>\n<p>The best way to stop stink bugs from getting into a building is by targeting gaps, cracks, and crevasses.<\/p>\n<p>One way to do this is by sealing them up.<\/p>\n<p>Another way is to spray key areas that stink bugs use to get inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLay down that protective barrier around doors, windows, foundation lines, roof line, and along the soffits,&#8221; Tony Sorrentino, an associate certified entomologist and director of business development for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pestprosmi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.pestprosmi.com\/\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">Pest Pros of Michigan<\/a>, said. &#8220;That\u2019s where the gaps, cracks and crevices are.
