Ned Lamont warned that his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/06\/us-news\/socialist-zohran-mamdani-admits-he-might-need-plan-b-as-its-still-unclear-how-he-would-fund-10b-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fellow Democrat Zohran Mamdani<\/a> could cripple Wall Street if he wins the New York City mayor\u2019s race \u2013and said the fallout could spill across state lines.<\/p>\n<p>Lamont said he was worried about a Mamdani victory and how it could upend the financial sector \u2014 both in New York and in the Constitution State \u2014 in an interview with Bloomberg Television on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York City is the financial capital of the world \u2014 and we\u2019re a big piece of it here,\u201d Lamont said. \u201cI want to make sure that the next mayor understands how important New York City is to that system, and that\u2019s important to Connecticut.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37319178\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/connecticut-gov-ned-lamont-delivers-15253498.jpg\" alt=\"Connecticut Gov. AP<\/p>\n<p>Connecticut serves as a hub to the hedge fund industry, and is home to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/17\/business\/steve-cohen-stops-trading-for-point72-hedge-fund-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Cohen\u2019s Point72<\/a>, Ray Dalio\u2019s Bridgewater Associates, and Cliff Asness-founded AQR Capital Management.<\/p>\n<p>Many high-flying financiers also commute into the Big Apple from its neighbor to the north to work at big financial firms like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, a self-described socialist who won a thumping victory over Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary this summer, has campaigned on promises of rent freezes, free child care, and open government-run grocery stores. Ron Adar \/ M10s \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>Lamont said he thinks the finance industry appreciates the certainty and stability in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey know where the state is going to go and the taxes are a little bit less,\u201d he told the financial news channel.<\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted for Fox News released on Sept 24, before Mayor Adams quit the race, shows Mamdani way out in front with 47%. <\/p>\n<p>Ex-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is currently polling at 29% and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa is at 11%.<\/p>\n<p>The Post ran an editorial last week warning how states such as Texas are moving in to swoop up financial jobs and that New York is reaching \u201cthe point of no return\u201d amid a looming Mamdani victory.<\/p>\n<p>The Lone Star State levies no state personal or corporate taxes, while New York state personal levies range from 4% to 10.9%, and its corporate tax rate runs from 6.5% to 7.25%<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan now employs more people in Texas than any other US state, while Goldman Sachs is working on an 800,000-square-foot building that will open in Dallas in 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Connecticut Gov.
