The contrast in environments is a part of Salon Meyerland\u2019s brand\u2014a salon that offers something for everyone.<\/p>\n
The overview<\/b><\/p>\n
Bonner Brinson, the owner of Salon Meyerland, refers to his employees and customers as family, as he\u2019s known some of them for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n
Brinson opened the salon in 2007 and has 74 tenants who run their own businesses out of the building, offering a range of services related to hair, nails, body waxing and makeup. Brinson\u2019s tenants have access to the salon at all times, allowing them to see customers whenever they like. He said he has stylists who work until 2 a.m. some days, catering to nurses and other employees at the medical center who work long, untraditional hours.<\/p>\n
A closer look<\/b><\/p>\n
Salon managers Melanie Berry and Janette Cosley said professionals at Salon Meyerland have a range of specialities, so if they aren\u2019t confident in their ability to assist a client, they refer them to another stylist in the building who can.<\/p>\n
Brinson said the salon only brings in tenants who are experienced in their craft and already have a customer base. It\u2019s one of the ways the salon ensures professionalism and quality service.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The tenants] don’t have the traditional headaches of salon ownership,\u201d Brinson said. \u201cThis [business model] takes all the legwork and the headache out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Houston area, Salon Meyerland is known for its large number of Black hair care specialists.<\/p>\n
Not all salons have stylists who specialize in Black hair, especially smaller salons that aren\u2019t corporately owned, Brinson said. But while Salon Meyerland\u2019s customer base has predominantly coarser, textured hair, Brinson said the stylists are trained to work with all hair types.<\/p>\n
