{"id":286099,"date":"2025-10-08T08:49:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T08:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/286099\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T08:49:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T08:49:14","slug":"ex-ranger-ryan-callahan-steps-away-from-espn-analyst-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/286099\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Ranger Ryan Callahan steps away from ESPN analyst role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ryan Callahan will not be back on ESPN for the network\u2019s hockey coverage this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The former beloved Ranger announced on social media that he was \u201ctaking a step away\u201d for the season after four years as an analyst on the Worldwide Leader, revealing the decision on Tuesday, just hours before the Blueshirts were set to open their season against the Penguins at the Garden on ESPN.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77777778;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37324309\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/nhl-network-21725493.jpg\" alt=\"Ryan Callahan of NHL Network laughing.\" class=\"wp-image-37324309\"  \/>Ryan Callahan is stepping away from his ESPN role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a great four years with the worldwide Leader in Sports,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheRealCally24\/status\/1975634779585585522\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Callahan wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m going to miss working with all the great people there, but I wanted to spend more time with my young family. Excited to tune in tonight to see the start of what should be another great NHL season!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The writing had appeared to be on the wall when the Disney-owned sports network announced a number of contract extensions for its on-air hockey talent on Monday and Callahan was not among them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several ESPNers reacted to the news of Callahan\u2019s departure on Tuesday night, which included play-by-play broadcaster Bob Wischusen and hockey reporter Greg Wyshynski.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to miss this guy!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/espnbob\/status\/1975722132563804420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wischusen wrote on X.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRead the expert take on the Blueshirts\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Larry Brooks&#8217; Inside the Rangers, a weekly Sports+ exclusive.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou rocked Cally.
