{"id":287245,"date":"2025-10-08T19:06:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T19:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/287245\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T19:06:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T19:06:12","slug":"daniil-medvedev-rages-at-crazy-umpire-and-makes-comment-about-rafael-nadal-during-match-with-learner-tien","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/287245\/","title":{"rendered":"Daniil Medvedev rages at &#8216;crazy&#8217; umpire and makes comment about Rafael Nadal during match with Learner Tien"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniil Medvedev was at it again during the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taking on his new nemesis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/learner-tien\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Learner Tien<\/a>, for a spot in the last eight, the former world number one became frustrated early on.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old pushed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/daniil-medvedev\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Medvedev<\/a> around the court, leaving him sweating through his shirt in the brutal Shanghai conditions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2239414427-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Daniil Medvedev struggles with cramp against Learner Tien at the 2025 Shanghai Masters\" class=\"wp-image-135578\" \/>Photo by Qian Jun\/MB Media\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Medvedev reached his boiling point at the end of the second set, and to make matters worse, he was refused any medical attention when he cramped up as per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP<\/a> rulebook.<\/p>\n<p>Dropping the second set in a tiebreaker 6-7 [1-7], Medvedev made sure umpire Mohamed Lahyani knew exactly how he felt.<\/p>\n<p>Daniil Medvedev fumes after receiving time violation <\/p>\n<p>Angered by Lahyani\u2019s decision to hand him a time violation, Medvedev launched into an explosive rant against the Swede.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t care that all my life I have been serving and waiting for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/rafael-nadal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafa [Nadal]<\/a> for 55 seconds, and you give me a code violation on the first occasion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI played Rafa five times, and there was not one time I was ready to serve and he was ready to return. He did not get one time violation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-1238078034-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Rafael Nadal reacts during the 2022 Australian Open final\" class=\"wp-image-135581\" \/>Photo by MARTIN KEEP\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal grew a reputation for pushing the limits with the serve clock.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard was rarely punished by officials, leaving many of his rivals frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Medvedev proceeded to tell Lahyani what he plans to do in the future whenever his opponent takes too long to ready themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext match, if you are with me, if I am ready to serve and the opponent is not, I am going to call a time violation on the first occasion. I am shocked by you guys.
