{"id":287393,"date":"2025-10-08T20:24:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T20:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/287393\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T20:24:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T20:24:12","slug":"more-horsepower-for-cup-cars-at-some-tracks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/287393\/","title":{"rendered":"More Horsepower For Cup Cars At Some Tracks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. \u2014 The target horsepower for engines in the NASCAR Cup Series on road courses and ovals less than 1.5 miles in length will increase next season.<\/p>\n<p>The NASCAR competition department confirmed Wednesday that horsepower will increase to 750 from the 670-horsepower standard.<\/p>\n<p>The move came after a demand from drivers and fans to increase the power in the Next Gen race car program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say, like any other change that we are considering to the cars, we listen to the fans a lot,\u201d said John Probst, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer. \u201cWe listen to the drivers. We have stakeholders in the broadcast, OEM (manufacturers) and team competition and team business folks, so there\u2019s always no shortage of feedback that we get.
