MIDTOWN MANHATTAN — For over 25 years, Bottomless Closet has empowered New York City women in need as they work to land their next job.<\/p>\n
But it’s not just career advice and a new outfit they receive. Clients become part of a sisterhood of women across the city who want to help one another succeed.<\/p>\n
For Executive Director Melissa Norden, this mission is personal.<\/p>\n
“Before I came here I lost my job. I always found I was pretty confident, but having gone through that experience, it knocked me down pretty quickly,” Norden said.<\/p>\n
Bottomless Closet is there for all women, no matter what they’ve gone through.<\/p>\n
“People have gone through homelessness, substance abuse, prison… we’ve all faced something that’s led us to Bottomless Closet’s doorstep,” said Norden.<\/p>\n
From styling sessions and mock interviews to clothing donations, Bottomless Closet does everything it can to reignite a woman’s spark.<\/p>\n
But the clothes are more than just outfits, they’re a vehicle for confidence, helping women see themselves as belonging in the professional environments they aspire to join.<\/p>\n
“It felt warm walking in, and everyone was so kind. You put the hard work in, you do the time, and now you get the paycheck,” said Bottomless Closet client Kamari Tuitt, who landed a job after her first visit.<\/p>\n
Through one-on-one attention, Bottomless Closet provides women with the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet.<\/p>\n
“This is a place where people can really give back in a meaningful way. By donating clothing, volunteering time, or simply showing up to support women.
