{"id":288123,"date":"2025-10-09T02:43:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T02:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/288123\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T02:43:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T02:43:13","slug":"tennis-told-what-must-be-changed-at-masters-1000-events-which-would-require-big-alteration-to-the-miami-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/288123\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennis told what &#8216;must be changed&#8217; at Masters 1000 events which would require big alteration to the Miami Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Anyone who watched the Miami Open in 2025 will no doubt remember one thing that affected the event\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Czech youngster <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/jakub-mensik-makes-tennis-history-after-beating-novak-djokovic-in-the-miami-open-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jakub Mensik won his maiden Masters 1000 title<\/a> at the Miami Open earlier this year, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Mensik and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Djokovic<\/a> were made to wait to play the final, as rain delayed proceedings in Miami.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2104748255-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Rain delays at the 2024 Miami Open tournament\" class=\"wp-image-79571\" \/>Photo by Brennan Asplen\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The weather caused delays throughout the tournament as several matches were pushed back, leaving players and fans frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Weighing in with his thoughts on the Masters 1000 events, a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/davis-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Davis Cup<\/a> winner has suggested what should be changed from 2026 onwards.<\/p>\n<p>Paolo Bertolucci says indoor options should be \u2018mandatory\u2019 at Masters 1000s<\/p>\n<p>Writing for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gazzetta.it\/Tennis\/08-10-2025\/bertolucci-atp-cosa-cambiare-per-l-emergenza-calendari.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La Gazzetta dello Sport<\/a>, 1976 Davis Cup winner Paolo Bertolucci shared his thoughts on the issues surrounding the busy tennis calendar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis already suffers from the handicap of unclear schedules, often weather-dependent events, ridiculous restroom breaks, and often unjustified medical timeouts,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/paolo-bertolucci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bertolucci<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo other reasons are needed to interrupt play. You know, it\u2019s the same for both players.
