The North Carolina<\/a><\/b> coaching staff may have turned their attention to a new name in the 2026 class according to Eric Bossi.\u00a0<\/p>\n Our national recruiting analyst reported Monday at Tar Heel 247 that, “UNC is now calling on the status of shooting guard Quincy Wadley<\/a><\/b>.” \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Wadley attends AZ Compass Prep.\u00a0 The team, Bossi, and the Carolina coaches were both on hand last weekend at the Border League West event in Las Vegas<\/a><\/b>.\u00a0 As usual, Compass Prep is loaded, and they received a pretty healthy feature from Bossi in his reports from the tournament.\u00a0 Wadley is one of the group’s premier players along with Kaden and Kalek House<\/a><\/b>.\u00a0<\/p>\n When it comes to Wadley, Bossi wrote, “Now fully healthy after a junior season hampered by injuries, Wadley looked like a guy who can make shots from deep or hurt you at the rim with his plus athleticism. He’s really starting to fill out and played with some edge and looked like a guy with something to prove.\u00a0 Wadley has been to\u00a0California<\/a><\/b>\u00a0for a visit, but others like\u00a0Baylor<\/a><\/b>, North Carolina, Tennessee<\/a><\/b>, and more are reaching out after a strong weekend.”<\/p>\n Compass Prep went a perfect 3-0 over the weekend, and ended up with a plus-59 point differential over the opposition.\u00a0 Wadley had a big weekend scoring, and finishing above the rim. There was lots of talk coming out of Vegas that he may have helped himself as much as anyone there.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The 6-foot-4 shooting may play in the Phoenix area, but he has plenty of East Coast ties.\u00a0 He is originally from Arlington, Virginia.\u00a0 He is ranked No. 49 in the Class of 2026, and 247Sports has him rated as the sixth best shooting guard in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n As Bossi stated, there has been a visit to Cal, and UNC is one of several newcomers showing interest. His offer sheet has some quality.\u00a0 Arizona State<\/a><\/b>, Clemson<\/a><\/b>, Florida State<\/a><\/b>, Georgia<\/a><\/b>, Maryland<\/a><\/b>, Missouri<\/a><\/b>, Pitt, Providence<\/a><\/b>, Temple<\/a><\/b>, Texas A&M, and Villanova<\/a><\/b> have all issued invites.\u00a0<\/p>\n His father, Quincy Wadley Sr. scored almost 1,500 points at Temple from 1998 through the 2001 season.\u00a0 The son is plenty talented himself, and he has enough in his bag to scouts to be bullish on his collegiate future.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Adam Finkelstein assesses, “Wadley is a long and smooth scoring guard with a microwave type ability to put points on the board in bunches once he gets hot. He can be a tough shot-maker off the dribble and from behind the arc. He’s crafty going through the lane, athletic in open space, and able to dunk with both hands. For all his versatile weapons and fluidity, Wadley isn’t always efficient. He shot just 36% from the floor and 20% from three (on more than 6 attempts per game) in Pro16 play, showing a tendency to overcomplicate things unnecessarily and settle for tough shots. If he can simplify his approach and keep developing his feel for the game, he has the skill-set to have on-off ball versatility.<\/p>\n Physically, he has good positional size and length, but needs to get stronger and improve his ability to play through contact. He’s a good perimeter rebounder (6.4 per game) and has a similarly good nose for the ball defensively (2.1 steals), but needs to be more physical and disciplined with his approach in order to fully maximize all his physical tools on that end of the floor. Durability is also a key factor for Wadley.
