Carlos Alcaraz impressed Jon Rahm with his stunning tee shot at the Open de Espa<\/strong>na Pro-Am.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After withdrawing from this week’s Shanghai Masters<\/a>, the tennis world No.1 has thrown himself into another sport, as he joined his compatriot Rahm<\/a> on the golf course in their home country.<\/p>\n

The Spanish sports stars teamed up for nine holes at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, which will play host to the DP World Tour event<\/a> from Thursday until Sunday.<\/p>\n

With the Pro Am serving as the tournament’s curtain-raiser, a host of leading golf names were in action, including Masters champion Sergio Garcia<\/a> and Ryder Cup winner Shane Lowry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Joining Alcaraz<\/a> among the amateurs was former tennis world No.12, and fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.<\/p>\n

A keen golfer, the 22-year-old was all smiles as he teed off on Wednesday morning, and he quickly got into his stride.<\/p>\n

Footage has emerged online showing the two-time Wimbledon champion’s incredibly impressive tee shot.<\/p>\n

In the clip, Alcaraz sends a sweet drive down the fairway, before walking away with a big grin on his face.<\/p>\n

He then walks over to speak to Rahm, who appears to give his seal of approval, as the US Open champion continues to smile while listening to him.<\/p>\n

And Rahm wasn’t the only golf star who was struck by Alcaraz’s ability on the course, with Lowry also sharing his thoughts afterwards.<\/p>\n

Fresh from Ryder Cup glory in New York last month alongside Rahm, the Irishman reflected on his time with Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

He said: “I told him his golf isn\u2019t incredible, but it\u2019s much better than my tennis.<\/p>\n

“Spending a couple of hours with him, with what he\u2019s already achieved at such a young age, was great.”<\/p>\n

What has Jon Rahm said about Alcaraz?<\/p>\n

While Rahm was clearly taken by Alcaraz’s golfing ability, he has been a fan of his tennis career for even longer.<\/p>\n

Last year, the 2023 Masters champion heaped praise on, as he hailed him for picking up where Rafael Nadal left off as Spain’s new face of tennis.<\/p>\n

Rahm told Fox: \u201cHow do I put this? He\u2019s not a god – he\u2019s a demigod. He\u2019s surely on that path. I don\u2019t think anybody expected this.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs [Rafael] Nadal is coming to an end of his career, to all of a sudden, overnight, Carlos shows up and becomes the greatest next star. It\u2019s so interesting.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of a sudden, you go from Nadal with 22 Grand Slams and has accomplished all these great things, [then] boom, two years later, this guy has four. It\u2019s absolutely insane.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t say enough good things about him. You got a guy that carries himself well, very charismatic. <\/p>\n

“He’s absolute fire on the court and somebody that definitely provides a lot of entertainment. It\u2019s quite special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alcaraz’s Pro-Am linkup with Rahm wasn’t the first time he has mixed it amongst golf’s top brass, having also enjoyed a game with compatriot Sergio Garcia during his run to the US Open title<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n

On his way to a sixth Grand Slam title in New York, Alcaraz played golf on most of his days off<\/a>\u00a0and celebrated all of his wins by miming a golf swing.<\/p>\n

In fact, he even revealed that revealed that\u00a0Garcia owed him \u00a3150 for losing their round\u00a0at the private Deepdale Golf Club on Long Island.<\/p>\n

Why isn’t Alcaraz playing in the Shanghai Masters?<\/p>\n

Since his victory at Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz has taken some time out from tennis, and recently withdrew from the Shanghai Masters.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz has won 18 of his last 19 matches since losing the Wimbledon final in July, with the latest victory coming in the Japan Open finalCredit: Getty<\/p>\n

Despite winning the Japan Open in September, he suffered an ankle injury along the way, ruling him out of this week’s tournament.<\/p>\n

Announcing the news on Instagram, Alcaraz wrote: “I\u2019m very disappointed to announce that I won’t be able to play the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, I’ve been struggling with some physical issues and, after discussing with my team, we believe the best decision is to rest and recover. <\/p>\n

“I was really looking forward to playing in front of the amazing fans in Shanghai again.
