Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts knows a come-from-behind WNBA Finals triumph is likely beyond his team, but he wants them to take it one game at a time.<\/p>\n
The Mercury are 3-0 down to the Las Vegas Aces following Wednesday’s 90-88 defeat in Game 3, which was sealed by A’ja Wilson’s jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n
This is the first time the WNBA Finals have used a best-of-seven format, but under the previous five-game format, no team ever overturned a 2-0 deficit to win the title.<\/p>\n
And in the NBA, where the Finals have always been a best-of-seven series, no team has ever won the Championship after losing the first three games.<\/p>\n
Tibbetts understands the scale of the task facing his team, who are at home for Game 4 on Friday, but he does not expect his players to wave the white flag.<\/p>\n
“We’re not into moral victories,” Tibbetts said after Game 3. “This is a game that we wanted to get, that we needed to get.<\/p>\n
