{"id":289292,"date":"2025-10-09T13:08:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T13:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/289292\/"},"modified":"2025-10-09T13:08:25","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T13:08:25","slug":"sir-jim-ratcliffe-throws-full-support-behind-ruben-amorim-amid-pressure-on-man-utd-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/289292\/","title":{"rendered":"Sir Jim Ratcliffe throws full support behind Ruben Amorim amid pressure on Man Utd boss"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has given Ruben Amorim his full backing as head coach after a poor start to the 2025\/26 season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After seven <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/premier-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premier League<\/a> matches, winning three and losing as many, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/rio-ferdinand-finally-admits-what-he-didnt-want-to-say-about-man-utd-a-difficult-conversation-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruben Amorim has faced fierce scrutiny<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/manager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester United\u2019s head coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>United are sitting 10th in the Premier League table, and Amorim has received more column inches than any other football manager in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The former Sporting CP boss, who won two Portuguese league titles in Lisbon, has failed to record back-to-back wins in the Premier League since arriving at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/old-trafford\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Trafford<\/a> 11 months ago.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/sir-jim-ratcliffe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sir Jim Ratcliffe\u2019s<\/a> stance on Amorim has been unknown, apart from reports that stated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/ineos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ineos<\/a> were prepared to give him time to turn things around.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2238811467-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim reacts during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Sunderland at Old Trafford in 2025 in Manchester, England.\" class=\"wp-image-301384\" \/>Photo by Robbie Jay Barratt \u2013 AMA\/Getty ImagesSir Jim Ratcliffe is avoiding \u2018knee-jerk\u2019 decision over Ruben Amorim<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/manchester-united-fans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United fans<\/a> continue to sing Amorim\u2019s name from the terraces, which tells you that the home and away support are still rallying behind the 40-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t part of the script when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/manchester-united-confirm-arrival-of-ruben-amorim-start-date-officially-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United appointed Amorim<\/a> that there would be doubts over his future before his first anniversary at the club.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Amorim has faced constant criticism since he took control of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/manchester-united-squad-players\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United\u2019s first team<\/a> on November 1, 2024, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/manchester-united-sack-erik-ten-hag-as-first-team-manager-as-club-release-official-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erik ten Hag\u2019s sacking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sky Sports News are getting to dedicate plenty of coverage to conversations over his future, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink being the latest pundit to air his thoughts on the current situation at United.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The best managers are flexible, but he doesn&#8217;t want to adapt&#8221; \ud83d\ude2c<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that Ruben Amorim deserves more time, comparing his tenure to the start of Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta, but admits the Manchester United head coach has to be &#8216;flexible&#8217; \ud83d\udd34 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L752yNQC7Y\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/L752yNQC7Y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SkySportsNews\/status\/1975967829615669681?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 8, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p>United\u2019s poor start to the season led to suggestions that Amorim\u2019s job was under threat, but Ratcliffe has dismissed those claims by stressing he has three years to show he is a great coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That\u2019s where I would be,\u201d Ratcliffe told The Business podcast, cited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-15174611\/Ruben-Amorim-Manchester-United-job-SAFE-insists-Sir-Jim-Ratcliffe.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe press, sometimes I don\u2019t understand. They want overnight success. They think it\u2019s a light switch. You know, you flick a switch and it\u2019s all going to be roses tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This should take some of the pressure off Amorim\u2019s shoulders, but United still need to improve results on the pitch if the Red Devils are to reach previous heights again.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if the Glazers want to sack Ruben Amorim?<\/p>\n<p>When Ratcliffe became a co-owner in a minority capacity at United, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/glazers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glazers<\/a> gave Ineos full control of football operations at the club.<\/p>\n<p>Ratcliffe was asked on the same podcast what would happen if the Glazers decided to give Amorim the axe without Ratcliffe\u2019s approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not going to happen,\u201d Ratcliffe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat probably sums it up. We\u2019re local and they\u2019re the other side of the pond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a long way away to try and manage a football club as big as complex as Manchester United.
