{"id":28950,"date":"2025-07-01T04:41:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T04:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/28950\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T04:41:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T04:41:11","slug":"apple-weighs-using-anthropic-or-openai-to-power-siri-in-major-reversal-bloomberg-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/28950\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple weighs using Anthropic or OpenAI to power Siri in major reversal: Bloomberg News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Apple logo is displayed on a smartphone with stock market values in the background.<\/p>\n<p>SOPA Images | LightRocket | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0is weighing\u00a0using\u00a0artificial intelligence technology from\u00a0Anthropic\u00a0or\u00a0OpenAI\u00a0to\u00a0power\u00a0a new version of\u00a0Siri, instead of its own in-house models, Bloomberg News reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of the iPhone maker, which had traded down earlier in the session, closed 2% higher on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Apple\u00a0has\u00a0had discussions with both companies about\u00a0using\u00a0their large language models for\u00a0Siri, asking them to train versions of their LLMs that could run on\u00a0Apple&#8217;s cloud infrastructure for\u00a0testing, the report said, citing people familiar with the discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s investigation into third-party models is at an early stage and the company has not made a final decision on\u00a0using\u00a0them, the report said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>-backed\u00a0Anthropic\u00a0declined to comment, while\u00a0Apple\u00a0and\u00a0OpenAI\u00a0did not respond to Reuters requests.<\/p>\n<p>The company had in March said AI improvements to its voice assistant\u00a0Siri\u00a0will be\u00a0delayed until 2026, without giving a reason for\u00a0the setback.<\/p>\n<p>Apple\u00a0shook up its executive ranks\u00a0to get its AI efforts back on track after months of delays, resulting in Mike Rockwell taking charge of\u00a0Siri, as CEO Tim Cook lost confidence in AI head John Giannandrea&#8217;s ability to execute on product development, Bloomberg had reported in March.<\/p>\n<p>At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month,\u00a0Apple\u00a0focused more on incremental developments that improve everyday life \u2014 including live translations for\u00a0phone calls \u2014 rather than the sweeping ambitions for\u00a0AI that\u00a0Apple&#8217;s rivals are capitalizing.<\/p>\n<p>Apple\u00a0software chief Craig Federighi had then said it is opening up the foundational AI model that the iPhone maker uses for\u00a0some of its own features to third-party developers, and that the company will offer both its own and\u00a0OpenAI&#8217;s code completion tools in its key\u00a0Apple\u00a0developer software.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Apple logo is displayed on a smartphone with stock market values in the background.
