The screening, \u2018Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery\u2019, is the latest from two-time Academy Award nominee Rian Johnson in his Daniel Craig-led detective series.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-201844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/WUDM_FF_0003_R.jpg\" alt=\"Philadelphia Film Festival\" width=\"700\" height=\"378\"  \/>Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. (L-R) Kerry Washington and Glenn Close in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.Courtesy of Netflix \u00a9 2025<\/p>\n<p>This fresh Benoit Blanc story also stars Josh O\u2019Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and is said to be \u201chis most dangerous yet.\u201d 2025\u2019s Film Festival will also feature eight Centerpiece films through its 10-day period, including the Emma Stone-led comedy\/sci-fi \u2018Bugonia\u2019, Guillermo del Toro\u2019s highly anticipated adaptation of \u2018Frankenstein\u2019, Bradley Cooper\u2019s new comedy-drama \u2018Is This Thing On?\u2019 and Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s heartfelt feature inspired by works of Shakespeare, \u2018Hamnet.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to unveil this year\u2019s extraordinary lineup for the 34th Philadelphia Film Festival, while also welcoming audiences back into our beautifully reimagined Philadelphia Film Society Center,\u201d says J. Andrew Greenblatt, CEO &amp; Executive Director of the Philadelphia Film Society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the completion of our state-of-the-art renovations, moviegoers will experience the very best in cinema, both visually and acoustically, in a space that\u2019s more welcoming and accessible than ever before. Alongside our dynamic programming at the Film Society Bourse and Film Society East, this year\u2019s Festival promises to be a true celebration of film and community. We can\u2019t wait to showcase world-class films and immersive events, all in the heart of Philadelphia\u2019s vibrant cultural scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some screenings have a local focus, while others are picks from around the globe. The Festival also features a Focus on Germany section, a Cinema de France portion, an After Hours slot that covers everything \u201cdownright weird\u201d, a Masters in Cinema bracket, and other categories that delve into some of the best set to hit the screen this year.<\/p>\n<p>Some showings will feature Q&amp;A\u2019s with directors, others will have community participation. The Festival is also a hub for special event screenings, including the finale of HBO\u2019s limited series \u2018Task\u2019 (which showcases Delaware County) starring Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey, and Amazon Prime\u2019s highly anticipated three-part docuseries \u2018Allen Iv3rson.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, audiences can keep an eye out for works in the Filmadelphia and the Filmadelphia Shorts Program categories.
