Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> wants Portlanders to show him around the Rose City. <\/p>\n

The late-night host used the first few minutes of his opening monologue<\/a> Wednesday to decry President Donald Trump\u2019s deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. \u2014 along with more timely attempts to do the same in Portland and Chicago<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Following in line with a flurry of Portland mentions across talk shows<\/a> and comedy sketches<\/a>, Kimmel mocked the narrative of the city as \u201cwar-ravaged.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cTrump and his buddies on the right-wing media are talking about Portland like it\u2019s a scene from \u2018The Last of Us\u2019,\u201d he said, \u201cwhen the reality is this is what these troops are being called in to stop.\u201d <\/p>\n

He then queued up two short clips from recent demonstrations<\/a> outside South Portland\u2019s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement base in which protestors \u2014 many clad in inflatable animal costumes \u2014 danced along to \u201cPepas\u201d by Farruko and disco hit \u201cY.M.C.A.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re taking back Y.M.C.A.\u201d Kimmel joked. \u201cWe\u2019re reclaiming<\/a> our Village People in Portland!\u201d <\/p>\n

Kimmel also had a request for Portlanders \u2014 and Chicagoans and Memphians and residents from any city where Trump has sought to send National Guard troops. <\/p>\n

\u201cMake a video of your \u2018war-torn\u2019 community and post it to YouTube with the hashtag #ShowMeYourHellhole, and then look for a message from us so we can share it on the show,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want to see all the horrors the administration is defending you from.\u201d <\/p>\n

Portlanders already have some experience showing off the best of<\/a> their city. <\/p>\n

Last month, when Trump likened life in Oregon\u2019s largest city as \u201cliving in hell,\u201d Rose City residents \u2014 and social media-savvy news outlets<\/a> \u2014 responded with footage of picturesque bike rides, idyllic farmers markets, waterfront concerts and trees speckled with autumn colors. <\/p>\n

Some of that same Pacific Northwest reverence made its way over to TikTok, with \u201cPortland Tok\u201d<\/a> users sharing their own perspectives of the city. <\/p>\n

So, dig up those video clips. We have a sneaking suspicion they\u2019ll be beautiful. <\/p>\n
